🌸 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🌿

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June 2025, the 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘫𝘯, in collaboration with 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗶 & 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗲𝗶, brought together creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability in Bloemenpark Appeltern. One of the highlights? The spectacular 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 floral design competition!

We’re proud to have supported this event by 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲. For the first time, all teams worked exclusively with 𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗨® — the sustainable alternative to floral foam — and seasonal, locally grown flowers.

The results were stunning: from towering pieces to delicate 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, all created with 𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗨® blocks. A true showcase of what’s possible when creativity meets sustainability. 🌿

Even though we weren’t there in person, we’re honored to have been part of this green and inspiring initiative. Thank you to all the talented florists and organizers who helped make it bloom.

🌸 Meet the last finalist of the Talent Award 2025: Carla Bouwland 🌸

My name is Carla Bouwland, I am 56 years old and live in Stadskanaal with my husband, son, and daughter.

I have worked in healthcare my entire life—first as a medical laboratory technician, then as a surgical assistant in the operating room complex, and now as an anaesthesia assistant, where my role is to monitor the patient and manage anesthesia and pain relief.

This means I have obtained several professional qualifications throughout my career, the most recent being a diploma in floristry/floral styling. That last one started as a hobby but has grown into something I’m actively pursuing. I hope to take the ADFA exam by the end of this year. At the moment, I’ve started the ARDFA training at the Floral Academy in Ede, which I’m thoroughly enjoying.

I love being creative in many different ways, enjoy nature, and of course, spending time with our Labrador Retrievers.
In addition to floral education, I also want to develop myself in the area of competitions, which is a completely different branch of the profession. That’s why I’m participating in the Talent Award.

Where my work at the hospital keeps my mind busy, I find it wonderful to work with my hands in my free time. And what could be more beautiful than flowers?

I believe sustainability is an important issue. We want to pass on this beautiful world to future generations in a way that ensures sufficient resources remain and waste products are minimised as much as possible.

🌸 Meet one of the finalist of the Talent Award 2025: Valentin Candia Mahn 🌸

Valentin Candia Mahn (19), based in The Hague, has a deep passion for flowers, fashion, and interior design. Working as a freelance florist in various flower shops, he also takes part in event and wedding floral design both in the Netherlands and abroad. Behind the scenes, he’s actively building his own business, which will focus on on-site floral work — especially weddings and events.

He enjoys the competition environment, finds it educational, and values meeting new people who might prove to be important connections in the future. What excites him most about floral design is being able to develop and express his own style — and the fact that there are countless ways to approach it. He loves large-scale pieces and aims to leave people speechless.

Sustainability is a big topic these days, and Valentin finds it interesting to explore how to work sustainably and apply it as much as possible. However, he emphasizes that his floral work must always reflect the elegance, color, and luxury that define his personal style. So while sustainability plays a significant role, it’s not necessarily the leading factor in his creative process.

🌸 Meet one of the finalist of the Talent Award 2025: Nina Heuts 🌸

Hi! I’m Nina, 21 years old and from the charming village of Bocholtz in South Limburg 🇳🇱. Fun fact? I’m converting a little van into a camper — one day it might take me to Italy... or become a mobile flower shop on wheels! 🚐🌷

I study Flower, Green & Styling at Yuverta in Roermond and have worked at Hendriks Eigentijds Thuis, a local flower shop, for over 2.5 years. In my free time, I love being creative — drawing, gardening, and of course, flower arranging. It’s more than a hobby; it’s a true passion 💐

Why the Talent Award? I wanted to see how far I can go in such an inspiring competition. It’s a great way to grow, challenge myself, and show my creative side. My dream? To become a floral designer with a personal style that touches people’s hearts 🌿✨

To me, floral design is storytelling — whether it’s a wedding bouquet or a playful wreath, every piece carries emotion, technique, and nature. Working with living materials makes each creation one-of-a-kind.

Sustainability matters to me too. I aim to use seasonal flowers, reusable materials, and avoid waste. A mindful florist thinks about every step — from sourcing to scraps.

Dan stap ik – strak in het pak, laarzen gepoetst – weer op de scooter voor *The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride*. Samen met duizenden anderen wereldwijd rijd ik namens Movember om geld en bewustzijn in te zamelen voor *prostaatkankeronderzoek* en de *mentale gezondheid van mannen*.

🎩💬 Want wist je dat mannen gemiddeld 6 jaar eerder sterven dan vrouwen? Vaak om redenen die we wél kunnen voorkomen. Steeds meer mannen worstelen in stilte – en dat moet veranderen.

Daarom vraag ik ook dit jaar weer om jullie steun.

Talent Award 2025 Finalists Announced: Carla, Valentin, and Nina Compete for the Title

After the exciting regional preliminaries held on March 26 and 28, the three finalists for the Talent Award 2025 have been revealed. Carla, Valentin, and Nina impressed the jury with their creativity, craftsmanship, and sense of styling. They will advance to the grand final on May 14, which will take place at Chrysal in Naarden.

During the preliminaries, which were hosted by leading Decorum growers, participants were given two assignments: to create an arrangement in a single vase where the vase and bouquet form a cohesive design, and to craft a floral piece on SIDEAU® featuring the grower’s assortment as the focal point. Eight selected talents showcased their skills, but only three earned a spot in the final.

“The quality was exceptionally high once again,” said the jury. “We saw innovative ideas, technically strong work, and a lot of boldness. The decision was far from easy, but ultimately, Carla, Valentin, and Nina stood out and secured their place in the final.”

The Talent Award is an initiative by SIDEAU® and aims to highlight and encourage floral talent. The competition is open to (aspiring) florists, students, and career changers who have not previously won this professional competition.

In the coming weeks, the finalists will prepare for the ultimate showdown, which is not only about flowers, but also presentation, originality, and commercial appeal.

Féerie Florale first day was a blast!
Yes it was windy, but we had so much fun.
Thanks to all the visitors visiting our stand and creating beautiful flower arrangements with 𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗨 ®

Also our art piece, regarding awareness of using traditional floral foam is present. So take a seat and think about our future for a minute when you are at Féerie Florale.

Haven’t you been yet, maybe we see you tomorrow, Sunday or Monday.
