Christmas days comping up and so publishing our opening times for December.

Workshop coming up!

Workshop Winterkrans - 13 dec 18.00 - 20.00

Maak je eigen Winterkrans tijdens de Kerstmarkt bij - Food Art Hub in Rotterdam.

Kore werkt in deze feestmaanden hoofdzakelijk met het wintergroene botanische materiaal dat van biologische kwekers, parken, tuinen en bijvoorbeeld de bomen en heesters van Arboretum Trompenburg komt.

Tijdens de 2 uur durende workshop leer je de trucs & tips voor het maken van een hedendaagse en poëtische winterkrans, met hier en daar een brutale tak die zijn eigen weg gaat.
Met het gebruik van zeldzaam en bijzonder wintergroen materiaal, linten in allerlei soorten en maten en alle benodigde tools, maak je je eigen krans die de komende weken bij je thuis hangt.

Fien de Graaf (eigenaresse Kore) werkt met materiaal dat op dát moment voorhanden is uit de natuur. Leer meer over natuurlijk botanisch design, dmv de bewustwording van natuurlijke vormen, kleuren en texturen en deze vervolgens te gebruiken en zelfs te eren.

Ook deze dag werken we met het snoeigoed uit de tuinen van Trompenburg en verschillende biologische kwekers.

SEASON CHANGE > NEXT BEST

Zoals vele van jullie weten verkopen we bij Kore biologische bloemen. Daar is het de afgelopen tijd dan ook veel over gegaan. (In de media over de bloemiste in Frankrijk en de ziekte van haar kind ivm het pesticidengebruik op bloemen.) Ook hier heb ik er aandacht aan besteed en geprobeerd te laten zien dat er wel écht een mooi en gezond alternatief bestaat: biologische bloemen.
Maar - zoals veel van jullie ook weten - zijn er helaas niet jaarrond -verse- biologische bloemen verkrijgbaar.
In 2022 februari maakte we voor het eerst de switch en begon Kore ook gangbare (niet biologische bloemen) te verkopen in de winter.
Dit was geen makkelijke keuze. Hoewel we de hele winter mooie biologische droogbloemen in de winkel hebben staan, merken we ook dat er een groot verlangen is naar verse bloemen.

Helaas is momenteel het biologische seizoen weer ten einde gekomen. Er zal zeker ook de komende maanden nog iets aan biologisch product staan; denk aan wintergroen voor de kerst (hebben we veel bio ook dit jaar met dank aan ) en ander mooi winters botanisch materiaal.
Het zal een mix zijn - maar belangrijk: het grootste deel zal nu gangbaar zijn.

Wel proberen we in deze periode uit de ‘gangbare’ bloemen het beste te selecteren. Dat noemen we onze ‘NEXT BEST’ selectie:
- Enkel bloemen van Nederlandse bodem;
- Bloemen met het keurmerk MPS A+ (Dit is een duurzaamheidskeurmerk binnen de bloemensector - waarover ik je in de winkel graag meer uitleg);
- We zoeken gericht op Nederlandse kwekers en telers die met groene stroom & natuurlijke vijanden in de kassen werken;
- Dit zoveel mogelijk aangevuld met een klein aanbod biologisch botanisch materiaal als takken, grassen en bv maretakken. Daarnaast mooi ‘snoeigoed’ van diverse parken, tuinen en andere buitenplekken.

Voor nu (en de kleinschaligheid van Kore) is dit de manier om bij te blijven dragen aan bewustzijn rondom bloemen en hun impact op het milieu en klimaat. Hopelijk blijven jullie klanten Kore daarin steunen zoals jullie dat altijd deden, waarvoor veel dank!

This weekend (FRIDAY & SATURDAY) we will celebrate allerzielen, el dia de los mu***os, the day of the dead, at Kore 🌸💀

The thing I personally love about flowers is their role in stories, cultures, celebrations, folklore, symbolism.
Flowers also play a big role in mourning processes. Saying goodbye, or take another moment to stand still, think about and honour those we unfortunately miss in your lives.
Last year around this time I was in Mexico City, and so much inspired by the way the contact with the dead is a big part of life and is celebrated so abundant with flowers by everyone, everywhere.
Everywhere we came; people had been making beautiful altars with candles, food, objects, sometimes pictures and most important: FLOWERS - the orange tagetes.

Because of this - FRIDAY & SATURDAY our new candle collection will be on sale when buying a candle combo - ánd you will also receive a little flower-gift.

>>> The combo of a long and a short cone candle will go this weekend for €21,50 (instead of €26,00) together with the flowers that will be gifted by us (ca. 3 cute stems) to accompany them on your altar with the candles.

Autumn love 🧡 Look at those colours

Still more then 75% of the flowers we have in store at the moment are nature-friendly. This means: no pesticides, no artificial fertilizers & only from NL.
The other (less then 25%) are flowers we have, is what we call ‘next best’: flowers grown in NL, with an MPS A - mark.
