Sinds 2003 blaast het studentenhuis in de Waterloostraat op nummer 135b, ter herdenking aan de Slag bij Waterloo, leven in de brouwerij. De straat wordt omgetoverd tot een waar festivalterrein, waar bandjes spelen, kunstenaars hun werk tonen, dj's draaien en waar verschillende workshops voor kinderen gegeven worden. Dit alles ter ere van de Slag bij Waterloo, waar
Napoleon definitief werd verslagen. Een reden voor het bovengenoemde studentenhuis om dit feit te vieren met de straat, de wijk, de stad en alle overig geïnteresseerden! Dit jaar wordt het festival voor de elfde keer gefeliciteerd. Een editie met een nieuwe Slag. Zo wordt de locatie van het evenement de kruising van de Lusthofstraat met de Waterloostraat en zal er flink worden uitgepakt met het kinderprogramma, onder andere komt er een springkussen, Oud-Hollandse spelen en een graffiti workshop. Het muziekprogramma wordt dit jaar zeer uitgebreid en divers met wat oude klassiekers uit voorgaande edities. Ook op de kunstmarkt wordt niet bezuinigd. Er zullen meer dan 20 kramen bezet worden en workshops worden gegeven door meerdere kunstenaars. Interesse in een standplaats voor kunstenaars op de kunstmarkt Kunst op Klinkers? Since 2003 the Waterloostraat has trusted house 135b to make the 15th of June into a culture-music loving day. The street will be fashioned into a festival-terrain from top to bottom. In this terrain you will find different bands and Dj’s playing through the day&night, artists exhibiting their work and several workshops for kids. All of this will be done in honor of the ‘Battle of Waterloo’ (Slag bij Waterloo), where Napoleon’s reign confronted its Achilles talon. Therefore the Student house ‘ELBA’ will make sure this historic event lives up to its grandeur by celebrating it with the street, the neighborhood, the city and all others whom may be interested. This year the Festival will be organized for the 11th time. It will include art exhibitions, fun kid activities and a broad music program. Are you an artist interested in exhibiting your work?
