Nerd Alert: Wine Talk

We’re back with an new event! A monthly returning event with one simple goal: nerd talking about wine the whole evening.

The rules are simple: A maximum of 8 people sign up for the event, everyone brings a bottle they want to share/ is proud of and wants to talk about. For a whole half hour that bottle will be the stage for discussion and sharing. And we continue till the last bottle has finished it’s last drop.

It’s a night for everyone who want to talk about wine, knows about wine, doesn’t know but wants to know. Everyone is welcome who has a bottle they think people really should try.

In the first few events it’s a bring bring what you want and later we will do region specific/ grape specific or other themes. Hell, we will even throw in a private chef now and then to make the theme food specific!

And this all takes place at our little audiophile living room at the . So feel free to bring your favorite vinyls, cd’s or Spotify list to combine your bottle with some tunes on our killer hot soundsystem by .

Nerd Alert: Wine Talk is the first in a new range of events for nerd taling . Expect other nights for book talk, movies, music, poetry etc. So feel free to share your ideas on one of the nights.

𝖐𝖚𝖗𝖐𝖉𝖗𝖔𝖔𝖌 𝖜𝖎𝖓𝖊 𝖆𝖉𝖛𝖎𝖈𝖊✍

after 2 years of this shenanigans with a lovely little bar, it’s time to go back to the roots of it all. Drinking, appreciating and writing about wine.

Let’s kick off again with a gem of a wine. We find our wine in de German wine region of Palatinate, or as most call it Pfalz. Here on the vineyard locations on the Mittelhaardt and the bordering South Palatinate, the three brothers Jonas , Lukas, and Philipp Seckinger, work there wine magic.

The winery is founded in 2012 by the three brothers and they are been growning there grapes biodynamical from the start. All wines are fermented spontaneous and have no further technical treatments.

With a primary focus on Riesling, Weiß/Grauburgunder, and Spätburgunder varieties, there are some single vineyards which producese Chardonnay. And they are brilliant.

𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗔𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗞𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥 𝗞𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏

This single vineyard is somewhat reminiscent of Burgundy or Jura. Solid limestone and an extremely marl-like clay allow even the very youngest of Chardonnay vines to shine through in full force.

🍾🪩 BYE 2022, HELLO PEOPLE AT RAISIN THE BAR🪩🍾

What a year! It was a rollercoaster ride from February till now. Starting in Schiedam at the Glasfabriek and finishing the year in Delfshaven (thank you ).

We had two amazing opening party’s, a movie night and pop up chefs. We had the terrace full with people enjoying the sun and we had people biking 40 min through the pouring rain for a glass of wine. To top it off we had our very first pet nat party yesterday. What a great succes that was!

We formed the most amazing team at the bar and I want to thank them for all the support🫶 extra big shout out to 🍷

What an amazing wines we drank in the last months. I’m so proud of the taste you have! Extra double thanks to all the importers who found these treasures, can’t wait for what we will taste in 2023♥️

Thanks to you who made this bar a succes. The people who visited the bar, it’s events and drank all those beautiful wines. Thank you all for making my dream come true. Looking forward to all the new evenings together next year❤️🫶❤️

And an extra big moment for and for being there for me in the hard and good times. You have been there when needed.

Grand re-opening RAISIN the bar at FOK🪩🍷

It’s been a hectic few weeks and we are still doing some decoration work💪But the team is super excited to welcome you all again next Friday December 16th♥️

Together with Ulli we are taking over .bar 🍷☕️

Grab a coffee with Ulli from 09:00 and the opening event of start from 16h! Expect tons of wines by the glass and catch some tunes from different dj’s 🕺

Special thanks to everyone help moving and getting this place set up so fast! Can’t wait to serve you all the most beautiful wines again😘

Construction update🏗


The bar is almost finished! Next week it’s time to put the furniture in and decorate the place ❤️

We start with around 25 seats inside and 30+ outside. When it’s going well we increase those numbers💪 but it will always remains a intimate place❤️

At current situation, opening will be 30th of July, but more about the opening soon! A little more patient💖

Dromen worden waargemaakt!

Afgelopen 2 maanden ben ik druk bezig met de start van de verbouwing van de wijnbar. In de Glasfabriek in Schiedam gaan we samen met m'n mede dromers van Ultraum (insta: ) een nieuwe hotspot maken voor heel de omgeving Rotterdam en iedereen die wilt komen.

De 300+m2 grote loods is een enorm zware klus om het te verbouwen tot de geweldige plek die het gaat worden waar iedereen kan samenkomen om te genieten van elkaar, wijn, kunst, muziek, inspiratie en ander levensgenot. Een plek waar we intieme evenementen gaan geven zoals filmavonden, diner parties, muziekconcerten en kunst performances.

De verbouwing kost geld. En met alleen ons kapotgeslagen spaarpotten is het lastig. We hebben hebben hierom een crowndfunding opgezet zodat we met een kleine hulp van jullie het naar een nieuw niveau kunnen tillen.

In the area of Randazzo a wine domain Tenuta Crasà SRC makes one hell of a wine at 800+ meters above sealevel🔥

👀 - Golden yellow unfiltered wine 💛
👃- On the nose aroma's of smoke, toast, almonds, herbs, citrus and banana 🌋🍋
👅 - When drinking, appel, citrus, orange, minerals, hazelnut and smokiness 🍊🔥
🍷 - Good balance between acidity and sweetness with a medium body. Decent finish as well✨
🍲- Pair with grilled fish or vegetables with citrus/ tomatoes 🐟🍅

A great wine to experience how volcanic grounds taste like. And that without the rapidly increasing prices of others like the Etna wines of Frank Cornelissen.

After all those relatively expensive sparkling wines, Kurkdroog got your back now with an affordable brilliant sparkling wine.

We are traveling again to the great French region of Jura (just keep coming back here). Here we find a Crémant du Jura which is just astonishing in this price range.

𝐋'𝐀𝐢𝐠𝐥𝐞 à 𝐃𝐞𝐮𝐱 𝐓ê𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐫é𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐮 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐚

* 100% Chardonnay* 24 months of sur lie* Natural yeast * 3g/l dosage *

- In the glass, a light gold yellow wine, with a fine bubble size 💛
- On the nose, citrus, caramel, hazelnut 🌰🍋
- On the tongue aroma's of apple, citrus, bread dough, toast, bee wax and minerals 🍞🍏
- A good combination of acidity, freshness, miniral and with a decent length ✨
- Nice with fish dishes or as aperitif 🐟

Sometimes you find these bottles which can stand out even if they are not €50+, this Crémant du Jura is one of them. A fun wine to drink which doesn't hurt when you finished your last glass. Unfortunately, not easy to find.

After an amazing trip to Barcelona and having a number of cava's, I can't let out a review of my favorite Cava maker ✨

Just outside of Barcelona 🇪🇸 in a place called Sant Sadurní d’Anoia lies the winery Mestres, which history goes back to 1312 (Documents confirm sparkling wines from this date). It was Mestres who created the Brut Natural (method ‘champenoise’ without adding liquor of expedition) in 1948. This winery has a very long and important history in producing sparkling wine and Cava 💪

This winery just makes the absoluut highclass of cava's and this is (so far) there masterpiece.

𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟰

* Grape variety: 65% Xarello, 20% Macabeo en 15% Parellada* 160 months of sur lie(!)* Aging: 13+ years * Residual sugars: -5 g/l * 60 year old vines hand picked, good vintages only *

- In the glass, a beautiful dark gold yellow color 🧡
- On the nose, complex aroma's of yeast, toast, nuts, dried fruit and appel 🌰🍏
- When drinking, complex aroma's of bread dough, honey, bee wax, chest nuts, plum and dried peach
- Very elegant bubble and he complexity of the wine continues to evolve over time and it could use some air to open up 🌬
- Delicious on its own or with paella, cheese or seefood 🥘

I just absolutely love Mestres, this wine hits again like a bomb. The complexity and the lenght of these wines are comparable with high level champagnes, but have there own completly different style. Start stacking these bottles, because there are not a lot of them.

Somehow I can't keep away from Jura, so let's do one more on this Sunday evening. Because holy s**t this one is absolutely amazing ✨

10 years ago a teacher for kids who needs extra attention and now one of the biggest stars in Jura. Winemaker Jean-Baptiste Menigoz is the one to keep your eyes on. After 10 years of experimenting and making wine for friends and family, he went full on and now sells out his bottles quicker then snow melts for the sun. On his 3 hectares of wineries he works fully biodynamic and without any interference or additives. And this white is an absolute masterwork.

𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐁 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟔

👀 - Golden yellow unfiltered wine 💛
👃- On the nose very intenst aroma's of hazelnut, barn, honey, orange peel, citrus 🍋🌰
👅 - When drinking this bomb, lots of minerality, honey, lemon, cream, orange peel, very complex 🍊🍯
🍷 - Bone dry and extreme finish. This wine dead silenced me 🙇‍♂️
🍲- don't eat, just drink (or else of course Comté) 🧀

This wine almost made me doubt if Champagne is my favorite wine. Jura is absolute killing it for me and this one fully hits the spot. If you can find one...

One of the things i like most about writing about the bottles I drink is studying there background. Funny is that this time we again can speak about Champagne even we are not in Champagne. Let's see where this is going.

This time in our series natural wines we hop over from Jura to neighbour area Burgundy. Even more specific, appellation Coteaux Bourguignons! Here we find a young winemaker with a legendary background.

Domaine Dame Jeanne is set up by Jeanne Piollot after her wine studies in 2017. Daughter of legendary Dominique Piollot of Champagne house Marie Courtin. Which was by far my most favorite Champagne surprise when I visited the region few months ago. A recipe for success and so proves this wine of today:

𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐜𝐡é𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖

This Chardonnay wine is a full reminder to the Champagne background and I f-ing love it.

* 100% Chardonnay from a small plot called La Grand Cote *aged for 20 months in oak barrel *

👀 - A gorgeous light yellow 'creamy' wine color 💛
👃- On the nose hints of fresh breath and yeast, apples and lemon 🍞🍋
👅 - After a sip, apple, mango, oyster shells, oakiness and butter 🧈🍏
🍷 - fruit-forward champagne textured with creaminess and minerality, everything gentle and subtile ☯️
🍲- Light cheeses 🧀

Basicly you are drinking a Chablis- Champagne combination. Which in my opinion is a total win win💦

Coming back from an amazing trip to champagne with nothing more then a big smile, empty wallet and even more amazing wines 💛

It's time again for a a budget banger below €10. This time a fresh and juice red from the Spanish region, Terra Alta 🇪🇸

In 2009 the brothers Francesc en Joan Ferra started their own winery, coming from generations of winemakers. The winery located in Catalonië is fully biodynamic and all wines are produced with natural yeast and minimal filtration. And today we drink a very fresh and juice wine from this winemaker:

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐋'𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗

A wine made from 60% Garnacha and 40% Carinena.

- 👀 In the glass a clear light purple color 💜
- 👃 Aroma's of ripe red fruit, animal/ earth tones and herbs🍓
- 👅 Fresh juice red fruit, vanilla, leather and white pepper🐾💦
- Very light body, low on tannines and high in acidity. But in good balance with fruit and secondary tones and decent finish ☯️

This is one very easy to drink wine, which can be drunk chilled (16 C). For this budget this is everything the be happy about ✅
