In this workshop we will cut out aluminum and copper sheets and make flat decorations from them. We will also carve pattern into the sheets by pressing on them. They can be used as jewelry, interior decoration or just find a place in your sketchbook. The result are dreamy and poetic figures that shine in the summer light.

The workshop is lead by Lisa Zakharova, she is a visual artist and educator. Her work in based in folklore, myth, nostalgia and memory.

From 11.00 to 13.00, for anyone from 6-106 who loves art, theater and music. A new workshop with new artist every Sunday.

Ze kunnen worden gebruikt als sieraden, interieurdecoratie of gewoon een plekje krijgen in je schetsboek. Het resultaat zijn dromerige en poëtische figuren die schitteren in het zomerse licht.

De workshop wordt geleid door Lisa Zakharova, zij is beeldend kunstenaar en docent. Haar werk is gebaseerd op folklore, mythe, nostalgie en herinnering.

[NL]Deze zaterdag organiseren we een workshop pocket shrines maken. Dit kan een altaar zijn voor alles waar je in gelooft of waar je om geeft. Om het begin van de zomer te vieren komen we samen om na te denken over onze intenties de komende periode, en creëren we een pocket shrine als houvast aan deze gedachtes.

Je kunt kralen en bedeltjes meenemen die je mooi vindt, anders hebben we genoeg hier om gebruik van te maken! Ook gaan we het eiland op om materialen te vinden die er in kunnen.

[ENG]This Saturday we are hosting a pocket shrine workshop. This can be an altar for anything you believe in or hold value to. To celebrate the summer solstice we’ll come together to set our intentions for the coming period. The shrines function as a tangible reminder of these intentions.

You’re welcome to bring beads and trinkets to add to your pocket shrine. But we also have plenty free to use! We will also comb the island for some nice trinkets to add.

Eilandatelier XL 15th June: Lino Printing: Botanical Edition met Nadin .nl

Terwijl de lente ten einde loopt, laten we dan afscheid nemen van het seizoen door de schoonheid die het ons bracht te vieren. In deze lino-printworkshop snijdt en print je je favoriete bloem - een eenvoudige maar poëtische manier om de kleuren en frisheid van de lente vast te houden. Seizoenen veranderen, maar jouw afdruk blijft! Ervaring is niet nodig - neem gewoon je creativiteit en liefde voor de natuur mee.

Eilandatelier 8 juni🌱: Knuffels van de Evolutie met Marieke Stein

In deze workshop gaan we knuffels "verbouwen". We halen ze uit elkaar en zetten ze weer op verrassende manieren in elkaar. Daarmee proberen we de evolutie te hacken: Kunnen we ook terug in de tijd? Kunnen we dieren kruisen die elkaar normaal niet tegenkomen? Welke dieren hebben de toekomst? Het is niet alleen leuk, maar ook een inspirerende manier om ontdekkingen te doen over diversiteit, verandering en het ingrijpen van de mens in natuurlijke processen.

Marieke Stein is kunsteducatiespecialist en werkt graag met van wetenschap, verbeelding en naald en draad.

The Plushies of Evolution with Marieke Stein

In this workshop, we’ll be “remodeling” stuffed animals. We take them apart and reassemble them in surprising new ways. In doing so, we try to hack evolution: Can we go back in time? Can we combine animals that would never meet in the wild? What creatures belong to the future?
It’s not only fun, but also an inspiring way to explore ideas about diversity, change, and the human influence on natural processes.

Marieke Stein is an art education specialist who loves working at the intersection of science, imagination, and needle and thread.

Let us introduce the artists who will provide the program for the upcoming We Came From the Future! As a one day residency, we invite participants to explore their own practice and topics, and a workshop is offered as a deep dive into the theme.

We will kick-off with a puppetry movement workshop by Alexander Brouwer-Casarola. Speaking about his practice with puppets, he says they can be anything, they can do anything and yet to convincingly perform with a puppet you must channel the part of yourself that the puppet requires of you. A conjoining, if you will, of the soul of the puppet and your own, coalescing into something new and different entirely.With Alexander we will focus on the three basic requirements to bring any puppet to life: breath, weight and focus.

After lunch you can participate in Ritual Research Lab with Naomi Van Kleef where we will be looking at rituals as markers of change. Rituals are not just routines—they are intentional acts imbued with meaning, passed through generations or created in response to life’s transitions. Naomi is a writer and a poet. She prefers to learn through encounters.

Eilandatelier on 01/06/25: Flip-Flop Movement Workshop with Elise

In this movement workshop we will explore how our bodies can transform by thinking differently of it and our surroundings. We will imagine specific environments around us and embody familiar creatures, behaviors and moods all to see how it can make our bodies move in new ways. It will be improvisation, but I will guide you through it and help you discover some of the infinite number of ways that you can move your body!

My name is Elise and I am a dancer and photographer based in Groningen. I studied dance in Rotterdam and the internship I did through the school led me up north to Groningen. Currently I’m focusing on teaching dance to different ages, levels and in various settings. I particularly enjoy teaching beginners because it allows me to introduce people to the intriguing world of movement.

Troebel water | Vrijdag performance | 30 mei | 20:00 uur

Jelmer presenteert een aantal verhalen uit hun onderzoek naar de manieren waarop wij ons als poldergemeenschappen verhouden tot de landschappen die hier gemaakt en vernietigd zijn—over mens-bever relaties, over de verdwenen draslanden, moerassen en estuaria, over het baggeren van de Nieuwe Maas en Waterweg, over de strijd om De Esch, over het denken in ‘alom aanwezige natheid’ in plaats van ‘land als tegengesteld aan water’. Na het delen van deze verhalen reflecteren we samen op de manier waarop we leven op de plek waar we wonen én op mogelijke toekomsten van de polder en zogenaamde ‘Nederlandse Delta’.

Jelmer Teunissen is architect en onderzoeker, gevestigd in Rotterdam (NL). Hun onderzoek richt zich op socio-techno-ecologische geschiedenissen, strijd en toekomsten. Als kritisch ruimtelijk denker en maker zijn Jelmers benadering en perspectief gegrond in stedelijke politieke ecologie, abolitie-ecologie en bioregionalisme.

Troubled waters | Friday performance | May 30 | 8 P.M.

Jelmer presents a number of stories from their research into the ways in which we as polder communities relate to the landscapes that have been created and destroyed here—about human-beaver relationships, about lost wetlands, marshes, and estuaries, about the dredging of the Nieuwe Maas and Waterweg, about the struggle for De Esch, about thinking in terms of ‘ubiquitous wetness’ instead of ‘land as opposed to water’. After sharing these stories, we will reflect together on the ways we live where we live and on possible futures of the polder and the so-called ‘Dutch Delta’.

Jelmer Teunissen is an architect and researcher based in Rotterdam (NL). Their research focuses on socio-techno-environmental histories, struggles, and futures. As a critical spatial thinker and maker, Jelmer’s approaches and perspectives are grounded in urban political ecology, abolition ecology, and bioregionalism.
