Another phenomenal event in the books!

DMC The Hague had the pleasure of orchestrating a multi-day conference for the esteemed International Academy of Construction Lawyers. Held in mid-April, this event brought together a diverse group of 60 individuals from as far as Australia, Canada, the US and Europe to experience the beauty of The Hague.

Our guests were treated to the luxurious accommodations of Hotel Des Indes where they experienced true Dutch hospitality throughout their stay. With its rich history, Hotel Des Indes provided the perfect setting for our international guests.

The multi day conference took place in the magnificent King’s Ballroom managed by CateringMeesters at Sociëteit de Vereeniging, a venue steeped in history as a private gentlemen’s club in the past.

Our group also had the pleasure of visiting the breathtaking Keukenhof a must-see attraction in April. 🌷

With culinary delights, including dinners at Patagonia Beach, Kasteel Duivenvoorde, and a spectacular final dinner at Hotel Des Indes the conference came to an end.

Every Thursday, starting April 4th experience the Gouda Cheese Market.

For centuries, farmers from surrounding villages brought their homemade cheeses to 'Ter Gouwe' to sell. Today, the tradition lives on every Thursday at the Gouda Market, where Gouda cheese is traded from the first Thursday in April to the last Thursday in August.

Experience the hustle and bustle of the traditional Cheese Market, happening every Thursday from 10:00 to 12:30 (except on Ascension Day) at the Market square. Watch as farmers and cheese traders negotiate prices with the age-old art of 'handjeklap' – just like in the old days!

But that's not all! Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a bygone era while tasting freshly made stroopwafels, fluffy poffertjes, and witnessing skilled artisans practicing ancient crafts. Did you know? In 1937 alone, a whopping 4.5 million kilograms of cheese were traded at the Gouda Cheese Market, brought in by 15,245 wagons. While the trade has evolved over the years, the essence of this vibrant market remains, thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers who have kept the tradition alive since the 1980s.

We're proud to have orchestrated multi-day experiences for GEA Group during their conference at The Hague Marriott Hotel! With the sun shining bright we had groups embarking on exhilarating guided city tours, canal cruises and culinary lunch and dining experiences.

Our groups also got to learn a bit about the Dutch culture with visits to Museum Panorama Mesdag, Grote Kerk Den Haag- Haagse Toren and a fun-filled 'Dutch' Limoncello workshop by Jan Limoen at Gastrobar Berlage. And let's not forget a spectacular final dinner at Beachclub O. in Noordwijk!

Between October and December, our beloved harbour in Scheveningen is visited every 2 weeks by the MS MAUD of . The 140 meter long cruiseship, travels from London to the Northern Lights in Norway and makes a short stop in our harbour. DMC The Hague has organized a cultural and active program for an average of 200 passengers per visit. They are warmly welcomed by our DMC and . Passionate city guides and the boulevard train await the passengers to ensure they have an interesting guided tour and a fun and informative morning. Before they head back to the ship the group visits

From 28 to 30 November DMC The Hague will be attending IBTM. As per usual the event will take place in the Fira Barcelona. With a record number of exhibitors, 2023 will be the largest edition to date. Anouk and Simone are very much looking forward to meeting valued partners, to be inspired by interesting speakers and to expand our DMC's international network. For the first time in history, one of the largest sailing events in the world is held in Netherlands. From 10 to 20 August 2023, the World Sailing Championships is held in The Hague, Scheveningen. The best sailors in the world compete off the coast of our beloved Scheveningen for the world title in the ten Olympic classes. The new Olympic discipline Kitefoiling makes its debut. The Allianz World Sailing Championships is also the first qualifying tournament for participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

You wouldn't think it at first, but the Sailing World Cup is an event many times bigger than sailing at the Olympic Games. Not only by and for the number of participants, but also for the organization. In addition to the 1200 participants from 82 teams, who sail in more than 900 boats off the coast of Scheveningen in the Olympic classes, sailors compete against each other in three para sailing classes on the Braassemermeer.

Come and enjoy these last couple of days at our beach in The Hague. The weather could not be more perfect!

Today August 15, we reflect on the end of the Second World War for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. At the Indië Monument in The Hague and other locations throughout the Netherlands we commemorate all victims of the war against Japan and the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies. The war experiences and the large-scale displacement that followed continue to this day with 2 million Dutch people with an Indo-European war story in their family and in our society as a whole. Tonight flower wreaths will be hung in memory of all victims.

Yesterday we welcomed over 165 employees from Hero at Schiphol Airport. They flew in from all over the world to the Netherlands to come together for their "Power of One Meeting". During this event we are present to help at the beautiful Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin where it all takes place!

Tomorrow is "Vlaggetjesdag"! A tradition in Scheveningen, where the arrival of the Dutch New Herrings (Hollandse Nieuwe) is celebrated! Originally "Vlaggetjesdag" was the day when fishing boats decorated with flags lay in the harbor and then set out to hunt for the new herring. Nowadays it's a day with various activities and a musical program for young and old. Are you visiting The Hague this weekend? Stop by and learn more about "Vlaggetjesdag" in Scheveningen and taste some real Dutch herring! 🐟

Every month there is an impressive ceremony in The Hague at the Noordeinde Palace to receive new ambassadors who come to present their credentials to King Willem Alexander. In this way it is underlined that our country respects relations with foreign countries at the highest level.

The ambassadors are picked up in a gala carriage and once they have arrived at Noordeinde Palace, they are met by a military guard of honor and a military band. After a salute and the playing of the national anthem of the ambassador's country, an inspection of the guard of honor follows. In the palace, the ambassador presents his credentials to the King. This is followed by a short introductory meeting.

Presenting the credentials is a custom that dates back to the late Middle Ages. From the moment the King has accepted the credentials, the new ambassador has formally taken up his position.

Did you know that The Hague is famous for its Japanese garden? And last weekend it reopened! Until Sunday the 11th of June, you can enjoy the beautiful garden in the middle of Clingendael Park. The Japanese Garden is very fragile. Therefore, it is only open to the public for a short period each year. During this period of time, the entrance to the garden is free. You will find rare plants an trees in the garden. It is the only Japanese garden in The Netherlands, dating from 1910! Not only is it the oldest Japanese garden, it is also the largest one with an area of 6800 square meters. A great reason to visit The Hague in spring!

This imposing sailing ship is located in the harbor of Scheveningen
The Sørlandet, the world's oldest and most authentic full-rigged ship still in active service, arrived this morning in the harbor of Scheveningen. The imposing Norwegian sailing ship, built in 1927, is 64 meters long, 34 meters high and built from 850 tons of steel.
Definitely worth visiting our beautiful harbor.
