Vino spumante, mousserende wijn, er worden allerlei bijzondere soorten gemaakt. Heerlijk op ieder moment natuurlijk, als start van een diner, maar zeker ook om iets te vieren. Zoals de aankomende feestdagen!

De meest bekende en verreweg meest verkochte mousserende wijn van Italië is nog altijd Prosecco, gemaakt volgens de 'Metodo Charmat', maar er is veel meer! Er worden ook prachtige wijnen gemaakt volgens de 'Metodo Classico', dus zoals Champagne wordt gemaakt. De tweede gisting die zorgt voor de mousse, vindt dan plaats op de fles in de kelder. De meest beroemde Italiaanse wijn volgens deze methode is Franciacorta. Omdat we houden van bijzonder, vind je bij ons nét wat minder bekende wijnen terug.

Zondag 24 november hebben wij Vinologe en Italië specialist uitgenodigd om tips & tricks te geven over het selecteren van de lekkerste wijn voor thuis bij het Kerstdiner🎄🍷

Samen met 6 populaire Kerstgerechtjes worden 10 proefwijnen geserveerd en wordt er per gerecht ingegaan op de do’s and don’ts.

Casa Setaro, Vesuvio, Campania

A very special winery where the grapes are grown on the foot of Mount Vesuvius, where the soil is black, also from recent lava flow.
They also have a beautiful tasting room and accomodation, worth a visit or a stay!

Native grapes Caprettone (white) and Piedirosso (red) are the base for the historical wine 'Lacryma christi del Vesuvio'. Very mineral wines and perfect to taste the terroir of this area.

All vines are 'pied de francs', which means that they still have their original rootstocks, because phyloxera wasn't a problem for the volcanic soil.

The Caprettone grape is also used in the Pietrafumante. A very beautiful sparkling wine made with the Metodo Classico. A highly recommended wine for December!!!

Lovely Luxembourg - discoveries outside of Italy

Last weekend I had a trip with my friends to Luxembourg City. First time there for me, but it was a great experience.

Besides the beauty of the town, we also enjoyed the wine area at just a 25 minute drive from the city.

We had a very well explained tour in the caves on the methode traditionelle (the winemaking process of Crémant🍾).

On the other side of the Mosel (in Germany) we discovered a lovely place where we could experience 'il dolce far niente' at it's best. A lovely terrace with views on their own vineyards and the Mosel to sit back and enjoy life with homemade snacks and the best wine!

Not to forget about 'Nuit de La Musée' where we got the chance to visit museums at night with some very special expositions.

L'Eroica Germania start to finish

A little bit inspired by my boyfriend, the more experienced cyclist I decided to accept a challenge and to experience an Eroica myself.

What's the Eroica? A cycling tour with it's origins in Chianti, Tuscany. Cycling like they used to, on classic historical bikes, on 'strade bianche' and with wine in the waterbottle. (Although this is one of the things that inspired me.. I filled it with water).

This Eroica held place in the wine area Rheingau, a beautiful area with great white wines.

We cycled the middle route: 78km, 1400m height. It was very warm with challenging roads uphill and downhill with views on the vineyards and Rhine (and not only) was fun and I'm proud I did it!

Winetasting in the garden

We we're invited to organize a winetasting on a party of someone who turned 40 years old. With 40 guests / winelovers.
The location was beautiful and so was the experience for the guests.

I selected 6 completely different wines, some of them very particular and unknown for the guests. Such as the Ribolla Gialla, Timorasso and Taurasi. All the wines were served with a matching dish.

In the photo you see Bob ❤️ Usually you see him only eating or drinking on the photos, but he knows a lot about wine too and gets to visit the wineries with me sometimes... a great help when necessary 🤗

Festa a Vico

A 3 day gastronomic event where it is possible to taste dishes and wines from chefs and producers from all around Italy.

The event takes place in the beautiful town Vico Equense, in the gulf of Napoli. The (benificial) event was started 20 years ago by the famous Michelinstar chef Gennaro Esposito, and still today he invites the important restaurants from all around Italy. It's a beautiful way for restaurant owners and chefs to connect and exchange their experiences.

And look at the beautiful views! I'm lucky to know this place already for a longer time and feel at home everytime I visit.

Vol verse inspiratie gaf ik gisteren een leuke proeverij. Vorige week stond ik nog op (voet van) de Vesuvius en gisteren vertelde ik erover. Evenals over de Coda di Volpe (vossenstaart) en andere bijzondere wijnen.

Geweldige avond op het dakterras met een hele fijne groep wijnliefhebbers die ik ook nog eens mijn (niet wijngerelateerde) collega's mag noemen. 🤩🍇🍷🍾

Colline del Sole in Torrioni, Irpinia

A beautiful family company that produces great wines. A special thanks to Margherita, the daughter and winemaker. She showed me the winery and explained me all about the way they work. Also, as you can see, she's a great cook😋 and great company!🥂

Irpinia is a wine region in Campania (1h from Napels) in the hillsides. Torrioni lays around 500m above sealevel. The days can become quite hot, but in the evening the temperature goes down. This is ideal for the grapes to ripen slowly.

Let me introduce you: Rebo

Autocton grape variety that you'll find in Veneto around Lago di Garda and in Trentino.

The grape was discovered in 1948 ass a cross of Merlot and Marzemino (also authentic local variety). Later they figured out it is actually a cross of Merlot and Teroldego (local).

A small grape with a dark skin, almost blue-black, that gives the wine a beautiful purple-ish colour.

The wine is refreshing and ideal to be drunk young, but can also develop well thanks to the tannins and acidity.

Mille1 is like driving with your windows open in summertime. Ripe berries, fresh herbs, wild flowers and a fresh 'seabreeze'. Something to daydream about on cold and rainy days.
