My name is Katerina Mataragka. For the last 12 months I live in Holland. I live in a beautiful small city of Noord Brabant, Etten Leur. I am 36 years old. I have a beautiful family with Sander and our seven year old daughter Dimitra. I was born and raised in Greece and my decision to start a new life in Holland was inspired and supported by my family. After almost one year of trying to find a new
job, the results weren’t the same as I expected them to be. In order to be more interesting for the dutch market, I had the idea that I should enhance my knowledge of matters that I was already specialized in. That was the moment that brought me in contact with my deepest desire. I always had a deep desire to do something big and make a difference. I just didn’t know what that was. As the years passed and I grew into a woman, the career titles associated with my ambitions continued to change, but not the strength and intention behind the ambition itself, to help, to mentor, to inspire. I had a crazy idea to start a wedding planning business. Becoming a wedding planner was not one of my first thoughts…but when this profession found me I immediately knew that this was the perfect fit. And here I am. This idea came from my hunger for a new opportunity, my need to communicate with people, the fact that I recognized my strong and weak parts of me, my dream of doing something extraordinary at one point or another, but also my personal experience of not having a wedding planner on my special day. When I reorganized my thoughts, when I seriously recognized that this is what I really want to do and I was strong enough to make it happen, I planned my steps to achieve my dream. I followed a course as a “Professional Wedding Planner” from the LOI (Leidse Onderwijs Instelling), which I intend to finish and succeed in March 2015. At the same time I gather information about the new trends, special ideas and everything that inspires me. I gather this from national & international magazines, Internet, and expeditions. I am trying to keep my pages in social media busy (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest), in order to make my name known, and of course create a good network. For me, wedding planning is not only glamour and beautiful colors. Wedding planning is something more. It is an identification of couple’s needs, a budget preparation, a planning detailed checklists, a continuously contact with important people of the wedding market (photographers, videographers, florists, beauticians, bakers, caterers), a coordination of services on the wedding day, a preparation of a contingency plan for the program, an assistance to documentation.
