सूर्य जयन्ती, अचला सप्तमी, आरोग्य सप्तमी तथा रथ सप्तमीको मंगलमय् शुभ कामना

हिउँद ओरालो लाग्दैछ, सूर्य नारायण उत्तरायण गतिमा गइसकेका छन् । उत्तरायण सुरु भइसकेपछि सूर्यको ऊर्जा र तेज ग्रहण गर्नका लागि धेरै विधान गरिन्छ । यिनै विधिहरू गरिने तिथिहरू मध्य अचला सप्तमी अर्थात् रथ सप्तमी र आरोग्य सप्तमीको विशेष महत्त्व रहन्छ ।

माघ शुक्ल पक्षको सप्तमी तिथिमा पर्ने यस दिनलाई भगवान् सूर्यको पनि जन्म तिथिका रूपमा विश्वास गरिन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्ने र पूजा अर्चना गरेमा आरोग्य प्राप्त हुने, सन्तान सुख प्राप्त हुने र सकारात्मक ऊर्जा मिल्ने बताइन्छ ।

भगवान् सूर्यको सातै वटा घोडाहरू यस दिन वाट वहाँलाई विराजमान गराएर वर्ष दिन भरि चल्न सुरु गर्ने विश्वास गरिन्छ, यस कारणले पनि आजको तिथिलाई रथ सप्तमी भनिएको हुन सक्दछ ।

अचला सप्तमीको व्रत कथा

अचला सप्तमीको व्रत कथा अनुसार भगवान कृष्णका पुत्र शम्भलाई आफ्नो शारीरिक शक्ति र क्षमतामा गर्व थियो । एक पटक दुर्वासा ऋषि कृष्णलाई भेट्ने उद्देश्यले भगवान कृष्णकहाँ आएका थिए । दुर्वासा ऋषिले लामो समयदेखि तपस्या गरिरहेका थिए जसका कारण उनको शरीर निकै कमजोर भएको थियो ।

त्यसपछि शम्भ त्यो महान् ऋषिको शरीर देखेर ठुलो स्वरले हाँस्न थाले । शारीरिक बलको घमण्डले शम्भ ले ऋषिको अपमान गरे। दुर्वासा ऋषि आफैलाई अपमानित भएको देखेर धेरै क्रोधित भएर उनले शम्भ लाई आफ्नो हिम्मतका कारण कुष्ठरोग हुने श्राप दिए। आफूलाई कुष्ठरोग भएको देखेर शम्भ निकै दुःखी भए र उनको अहंकार पनि चकनाचुर भयो। त्यसपछि भगवान श्रीकृष्णले आफ्नो पुत्रको यस्तो अवस्था देखेर उनलाई सूर्यदेवको पूजा गर्न भने । पिताको आज्ञा पालन गर्दै शम्भले दिनहुँ सूर्य भगवानको पूजा गर्न थाले । यससँगै माघ शुक्ल पक्षको सातौँ दिन पनि व्यवस्थित रुपमा व्रत बस्ने गरिएको छ । जसले गर्दा उसले यस श्रापबाट मुक्ति पाए र पहिलेको जस्तो रूप र शरीर पाए । यसपछि अचला सप्तमीको महिमा झनै बढर गएको हो ।

Surya Jayanti marks the birthday of Sun God Surya and hence celebrated as festival in Hindu religion as Surya Jayanti. It falls on the seventh day (Saptami) in the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu month Maagha.

This festival is also called Ratha Saptami or Rathasaptami because this day symbolically represented in the form of the Sun God Surya turning his Ratha (Chariot) drawn by seven horses (representing seven colours) towards the northern hemisphere, in a north-easterly direction.

Ratha Saptami is also a symbolic of the change of season to spring and the start of the harvesting season. For most Nepalese and Indian farmers, it is an auspicious beginning of the New Year. The festival is observed by all Hindus in their houses and in innumerable temples dedicated to Surya, across Nepal and India.
