With the XLabs design sprint itself centred around designing the future of food to be circular with leading businesses in Aotearoa, you can bet that the catering needed to meet this brief as well. It was imperative to work with a caterer that could provide fresh, locally grown ingredients, ensuring there was zero waste, no single-use materials, all served on reusable plates, with a menu designed for portions so that nothing ended up in landfill. At the end of three days of catering for 50 people, we only had a 1/4 of a bucket of inedible food that was fed to local piggies. The rest was all happily consumed by humans! XLabs: Future of Food — Aotearoa’s circular innovation program for New Zealand businesses created by Circularity, was a really special event for Uno Loco to be a part of. Based at the Plant and Food Research Centre in Nelson, it was an incredibly inspiring week witnessing businesses across the food system, tackling the challenges within their organisations and creating collaborative, circular solutions.
With a commitment to minimising waste and emissions, we worked with partners from catering to IT and transport to ensure that every element of the event was designed with circularity in mind. Here’s to a future where innovation meets responsibility. 🌱

Behind the Scenes - Mercury & Trustpower
Recently Uno Loco produced the Wonderful Together broadcast, celebrating Mercury's acquisition of Trustpower's retail business. A fantastic hybrid event held at the Civic Theatre in Auckland, and broadcast around the country.

Two years in and it’s no secret that video meetings are getting a little dry. In alert level red, we have been working with our clients to spice up virtual events with full-screen graphics, video playback, lower-third graphics and interactive features. We have found that adding elements like these, as well as using studio broadcasts and limited live audiences, can keep people a lot more engaged and prevent the dreaded zoom fatigue!

Uno Loco can bring your virtual or hybrid event to life
Here we go again! Back into red. While this is disappointing for many industries, Uno Loco are all geared up to work remotely or onsite with strict measures in place.
We’ve spent the last couple of years immersing ourselves in live broadcasts, hybrid events and virtual experiences across all platforms and streaming services.
With the 100 person capacity limit, we are already working with clients to produce hybrid solutions with studio broadcasts, live audiences and the opportunity to connect in person and virtually.

While we're all stuck in our bubbles, we're reminiscing on one of our favourite events from last year. Villa Maria Estate hosted a spectacular premiere screening of their documentary; Vintage. Vintage offered a peek behind the scenes of the wine harvesting industry and the event showcased Villa Maria's famous hospitality to 200 influential guests from across NZ.
