We first met Flaui on a zoom call after finding his credentials online. We loved that he spoke Samoan and had a good understanding of Te Reo Maori which tied both of our heritage together.

Instantly we knew we wanted to move forward and have Flaui as our celebrant for the big day.

He helped us to compile our formalities together with ease and on the day did all the background work to ensure our day ran smoothly.

When we had lost our MC, Flaui even stepped up to ensure our guests were directed to the right places until we were able to come back from our photoshoot where Flaui effortlessly handed it over to our groomsman to MC.

Overall both me and Ernie are grateful to Flaui for his guidance, advice and direction through this process. We had no idea what we were doing and he helped give us the confidence while he did his part effortlessly and gracefully to ensure we had the best day for our wedding!

‼️How to be a great wedding guest‼️

Getting an invitation to a wedding is special.

Weddings these days come in all shapes and sizes, however some things never change.

Attending a wedding has some do’s and don’ts and here's a few tips on how to be a great wedding
guest.

🫶RSVP on time – reply to the invitation regardless of whether you’re going or not.

🫶Dress appropriately. Better to be over-groomed than turn up looking way too casual.

🫶Arrive on time for the marriage ceremony.

🫶Good manners never go amiss.

🫶Greet the hosts, introduce your partner/spouse.

🫶Ask where to put your wedding gift unless it’s obvious.

🫶Be attentive, read signs, listen to instructions.

🫶Suppress the urge to take a peek where signs say private.

🫶Never take alcohol or drugs or turn up pre-loaded.

🫶Go easy on the alcohol, drink plenty of water.

🫶Avoid smoking unless it’s made clear that it’s ok.

🫶Have your mobile phone on silent during the ceremony and reception speeches.

🫶No photos unless it’s ok. Many couples have an unplugged ceremony with no photos or social media posts.

🫶Suppress your urge to cheer, clap, whoop, whistle, interject or laugh inappropriately during the marriage ceremony and reception speeches.

🫶The signing of the marriage licence is not usually the end of the ceremony, try to avoid starting a conversation with others until after the married couple are officially announced or walk down the isle.

🫶If you’ve brought your children manage their restlessness during the formal stuff and leave the ceremony or reception with them. Many couples try to have activities for kids.

🫶After the ceremony it’s the reception then party time, however, one should never be ‘overly familiar’ with any of the bridal party or parents.

🫶Show your moves on the dance floor after the bride and groom’s first dance.

🫶Know when it’s time to leave, express your thanks and travel home safely.

A wedding is a special occasion even if it’s a tiny laid-back beach occasion.

As a guest, your role is to support the couple by making their celebration a great and memorable occasion for all the right reasons 🙌

One the greatest things about being a celebrant is meeting new people. You form a connection as though you had known them for a long time.

No words can describe how thankful we are to have had Flaui officiate our wedding. If there was one thing we done right, it was choosing Flaui as our celebrant. From the beginning, he made us feel comfortable. Not only could he speak Samoan but his willingness to incorporate Te Reo Māori into his program was the cherry on top.

Flaui's support from day one to our wedding day has been nothing short of amazing! He had brought out another side to my husband that I haven't seen. He supported my husband with his Vows and that was so special to him and for that, he is forever grateful and can't stop singing Flaui's praises.

Weddings can be somewhat be exciting and daunting but all Flaui's continuous support has made it so stressfree. He offered services beyond just being a celebrant. Flaui is a special human and if you find someone who you've just met but it feels like you've known them for years, you keep them close. That's exactly how we feel about Flaui. We're somewhat sad that interaction with Flaui has come to an end but we will still continue to support and recommend Flaui from afar.

💃FACTS ABOUT THE BOUQUET TOSS!

Weddings are filled with traditions, both old and new and one of the most well known, and well used one is the bouquet toss! This tradition has been around for hundreds of years and has developed over time to become how we know and love it, today!

The bouquet toss is where the bride tosses her floral bouquet over her shoulder into a group of single women. Traditionally, whoever catches it will be the next bride to walk down the aisle! It certainly can get very competitive, but above all is a lot of fun and a great moment for the photographer to capture.

The tradition of the bouquet toss as we know it today started in England in the 1800s, but the origin of this tradition is even older. Prior to the 1800s, it was considered good luck to simply touch the bride on her wedding day. Hopeful single girls would often rush the bride—crowding her, touching her—in the hopes that a little bit of the bride’s wedding-day good fortune would rub off on them and they would soon be married.

The bouquet toss that I facilitate at a wedding where the bride has specifically requested for it.... I will normally call on all the single guys and ladies in the audience to step forward for a bit of fun 🙌🌺

🎼🎵It’s often said that music is the universal love language, which is why choosing the music for your marriage ceremony can be such a daunting task. With so many options, it’s important to pick a playlist that represents you as a couple – it is your day afterall.

Like a lot of parts of a wedding day, the trend seems to be moving away from the traditional elements in almost every way possible. Moving towards more unique music, introducing ‘first look’ photoshoots, eloping. We certainly are making the ceremonies our own.
