Female Powerhouses Unite: A Night of Uplifting and Liberating Music with Lucy Gallant and Joydah Mae at The Vic.
On January 17th, The Vic in Devonport, NZ, will come alive with the soulful sounds of two extraordinary female artists, Lucy Gallant and Joydah Mae, for an unforgettable evening of conscious music.
Each celebrated for their transformative artistry, Lucy and Joydah will take the stage for individual sets that promise to inspire, heal, and connect.
This is Lucy Gallant’s first-ever tour of New Zealand, following a successful global journey that has seen her captivating audiences at major festivals like Glastonbury and Byron Bay Bluesfest. Known for her unique blend of reggae, folk, and soul, Lucy has built a reputation as one of the most vibrant and captivating performers on the touring circuit.
A one-woman band and multi-instrumentalist, her music invites listeners to embrace love, liberation, and individuality through uplifting rhythms and soulful melodies. Lucy encourages the audience to sing along, creating an immersive experience where everyone feels a part of the magic.

Joydah Mae, a proud Ibaloi warrior, will bring her own powerful, transformative music to the stage. Known for her deep ancestral wisdom, Joydah’s voice resonates with emotion, and her songs—filled with themes of challenge, fortitude, and change—create a space for reflection and healing. Rooted in gratitude and a vision for a brighter future, Joydah’s conscious music empowers listeners to connect to their inner strength and embrace transformation.

Both artists are united by their purpose to uplift, empower, and create a space for unity through music. This is more than a concert—it's an invitation to experience conscious music at its finest.

-Loveray-

I'm quite blown away by how lucky my life is, to be able to meet with these inredible humans every Monday night and pick up instruments and just make music together, completely in the momemnt to moment, off the top of our heads, or rather from the magical depth of our opening hearts.

It's a real pleasure to have reached out to the wildernet and attracted Nix on improv vocals, she really really added sass and soul to last nights "rehearsal" improv jam.

Stick it on in the background and let me know your thoughts...

Unfortunately my new mob ph that I throw in the middle of the room to record on now stops itself at 3hours (now I know) so we missed the best part: the crazy vocal beat box jam at the end, created in the 4th hour, but thats just highlighting how its even more magic for those in the room at the time, I guess.

We have quite a few -Loveray- gigs lining up over the next few months leading up to the enevitable summer festivals, where we will continue to just show up and play totally improv live on mainstage!!!

Its crazy cool to be able to achieve this, we are loving it, being on the musical and emotional edge, and we love sharing this gift with you all...

Still auditioning new members to join the -Loveray- collective to sail with us into the unknown, if your curious to join us just reach out and say hi

or txt me on mob 0274640691

More info:
Please join us for an wonderful evening out at the C12 Play "Lady Windermere's Fan" 😊!
The Class 12 play is a significant milestone in the lives of Class 12 students and represents extensive work in drama, movement, speech and design as well as drawing on their developed skills of textual analysis.

Oscar Wilde’s play demands very precise articulation, comic timing and emotional maturity. The characters are strongly imagined and all have inner lives – from the butler to the complex title role of Lady Windermere.

Oscar Wilde was the foremost dramatist of the Victorian age in which the expression of theatricality was a cultural fact. His plays are thoroughly humane, and encourage the actors and audience to widen their understanding of social dynamics and individual strengths and flaws. We are asked to question our snap judgements of individuals and social behaviour and to empathise with the inner pain of characters who survive on the surface but who suffer terribly in their souls.

For Wilde, love is the ultimate redemption and the only absolute value. He rails against hypocrisy, pettiness and rigid values and celebrates the vibrancy of passion but in the end he always comes out on the side of altruistic love. He challenges our thinking about what is the right way to be in the world and the ‘truly’ moral way to behave.

Oscar Wilde’s fascinating and complex play will leave you with questions and answers that require further engagement rather than offering any simple resolutions.
We look forward to welcoming you to be part of the Class 12 Play experience.

Hi All.
We had a really successful event on Friday - The Class8 Winter Camp Shindig, a fundraiser, held at the Titirangi Beach Hall.

Success measured by;
happy people enjoying themselves and celebrating together,
Nice Food shared
Smiley faces all night
Loads of ecstatic dancing
Happy performers
Warm space
No injuries or incidents I'm aware of
and together we raised $335 for offsetting the Class8 Winter Camp expenses !!

Please see the breakdown below of how this was achieved.
Essentially we grossed ticket sales of $610, which included a generous donation of $60
The event expenses were $275 - mostly for the hall hire.

Our band -Loveray- and our sound and light hire was donated 100% to this fundraising cause and our 2 guest performers received a token payment for their gas money. Their performances were worth a million dollars!

Unfortunately I did not get time to organise the table for the Class8 children to sell the donated baking and cocao - and these were simply added to the offerings of shared kai, perhaps we missed that opportunity to make another $100 or so, my apologies, just too stretched with all the other things to arrange on the night.

I want to thank those that provided baking and those that were there and stepped in to help sort and prepare and present the food, and clean the kitchen area through the night, step into assist greeting people at the door and door sales, and help tidy and pack out at the end.

You know who you are and it was so greatly appreciated.

Also Jupiter and Quinn really stepped up to help in many ways with all things like the fire and firewood and setting up the lights, and manning the door. They did an amazing job, some of the other boys helped serve the Cacao out to guests and the girls looked like they really enjoyed the dance floor especially.

I started setup at 12noon and was in bed by 2am and have still only unpacked half the van load of equipment.

I loved performing with -Loveray- and also the set by Matiu and DJ Morpho were both outstanding and so much fun.

Ill attach some pics and there will be some videos added to the Facebook Event Page tonight.

There's a full sound recording of the performances (recorded on my mob ph sitting onstage) at this link:
https://www.mixcloud.com/Loveray1/-loveray-live-9aug2024-class8-winter-camp-shindig/
ill also load this link on the FB event page with some photos and short videos.

If anyone was there and took pics or videos please let me know and please post them here or to the FB event page if you can!

ATTN Musicians, poets and singers..

My drummers moving to wellington and bass player may go north soon so I'm looking to audition new talented musicians to join the evolving -Loveray- collective.

We rehearse weekly in west auckland.

We improv, I don't think theres many riffs we have played twice.

But we're keen to hone a tight mainstage festival set before this summers festivals roll in.

We swap instruments all night, so multiinstrumentalists are ideal.

Tag a friend here if you think they may be interested in joining us.

Always happy to chat and share ideas about making and performing music.

Here's our last rehearsal to get an idea of our grooves (recorded on my phone on floor)

They never finish where they start. It's a bit like one long 2 hour jam song...
