If you haven't checked out live music at Botticelli before, head along and support some of the awesome musicians they have every week!
Couldn't believe the natural reverb in this room!
"The Thief" by Brooke Fraser
WHAT I DO ON MONDAY MORNINGS
After a look back at the fun from the weekend it's time to look forward to the three functions coming up this weekend.
Another wedding, and another stunning song requested for the bride to walk into. I honestly wouldn't blame her if she preferred to walk down to the Brooke Fraser original version, but this beautiful song is now in my repertoire for life.
Have a great week everyone.
"Your Song" instrumental
Another weekend done and dusted.
A Friday night Tauranga awards function with some of the best Fully Stocked and then a stunning misty wedding Tui Hills, Auckland on Saturday.
One of my favourite aspects to helping a couple create their dream wedding is when I have a request to play a particular song during the ceremony. On Saturday, the beautiful bride wanted to walk down the aisle to "Your Song" played instrumentally - this was me on Thursday night after I had recorded the backing onto my loop pedal and was starting to get a feel for the melody. Excuse my messy living room 😂
Thanks to @lukis for holding the camera for me.
Northland weddings! Canapé sounds...
Heading home... Reflecting on a stunning afternoon in the far north.
"Everlong" - Acoustic rehearsal
Now I like the Foo Fighters as much as the next guy (unless the next guy is @ben.kelsey)... But it's like the Foos were written in the stars for this week. Not only did we get tickets to the Auckland show (note - I'm unavailable 17 December 🤙🤙) but this weekend's newlyweds want to walk into their reception to an acoustic version of "Everlong". Legends.
Looking forward to tag teaming the wedding with old mate, celebrant phenom (and covid free) @westielee - don't worry Lee, I'll polish this one up real nice. Look out wedding world. Could be a big one.
Viva la vida - Coldplay (looping demo)
VIVA LA VIDA!
A little loop of this Coldplay cracker to remind us all to enjoy the summer while it's here. Big day ahead with a wedding ceremony / afternoon set / MC / DJ booking in Waiuku, before resting the voice for tomorrow's set at Botticelli.
Thanks to Martin from MjS Visuals NZ for the video!
Enjoy your Saturday team 🤙🤙

Losing my religion - REM
If its got strings, Shane will jam on it. The Conquistadors jam out some REM during sound check today.
Music Mentoring 2021
When I'm not playing music, I'm training kids to take my place.
107 days in lockdown, over 16 weeks out of the practice room. These kids were only 1 week away from getting to perform after working all year towards Bandquest before Level 4 restrictions were put in place in August. They were gutted.
Strict rules around what we can and can't do at schools for the remainder of 2021 (for example, no singing indoors!?) nearly thwarted us from even being able to assemble the students to attempt a video submission. But where there's a will, there's a way. We set up outside.
So proud of all these kids - such a fun bunch.
Thanks Sam Mence for supporting the kids to sound their best, Bronwyn Babbage Zane Cooper for relentless support of the programme and Tim Barlow for bringing his fancy camera to NIS and putting the long hours on a Saturday with us.
"In the air" - L.A.B. (looping cover demo)
Borders lift on 15 December... I'll take it. It means that Fully Stocked should hopefully be able to fulfil our booked gig at Mt Maunganui on the 17th DEC. In celebration, here's a song by the Bay's own L.A.B.
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac (demo)
Not long to go now Auckland! A lot of weddings and gigs that I can't wait to drop this song into.
"Fall at your feet" - Crowded House
Neil Finn... Surely one of the finest songwriters to come out of New Zealand - one of my favourite solo tunes on a Sunday afternoon.
