SLOW PRODUCTIVITY
Productivity is result of being focussed on a particular goal and taking action to accomplish it efficiently.
But there's a problem ❗
The more texts, emails, alerts, reminders, notifications, pings and calls we get, the less productive we are.
So how do we switch it all off to focus and complete a task efficiently without fear of missing something important or not being available instantly?
It's called slow productivity and training our teams how to do it will result in a better business outcome and a happier workforce.

The ❎ Factor in your business
Our businesses are swamped with data analytics. We analyse absolutely everything!
The revenue, the costs, the profits, the sick days, the social posts, the reach, the carbon footprint, the milestones, the goals. All great stuff that ensures that the business is on track or sometimes not.
But how do you measure the ❎ Factor? The human element, without which, you don't have a business at all.
If ❎ = happy, motivated, productive, engaged, healthy, confident and valued, the data (everything you measure) will look good.
If ❎ = unhappy, demotivated, under performing, disengaged, sick, unsure and un-respected, the data will be dismal.
So put as much emphasis on your ❎ Factor as you do on the data. Anything less is not enough.
Check out our workshops where all the emphasis is on the ❎ Factor.

TEAM BUILDING TUESDAY
Teams teams and more teams!
Teams are at the heart of everything we do here at Let Me Out, so for the next 10 weeks on Team Building Tuesday we're going to give you a surprising scientific fact each week all about teams to help your team be the best team you can be...
FACT 1. The ideal team size is between 5 and 9.
Now, we all know the old saying "the more, the merrier," but contrary to the generally-accepted assumption that management can fix a problem by throwing people at it, adding team members beyond that point actually decreases the likelihood of success.
Let's break it down for a second.
Think about a time when you were part of a big group project. How many people were involved? Five? Ten? Twenty? And how smoothly did it go? Chances are, the more people that were added, the harder it became to get things done.
So why is the magic number 5 to 9? Well, studies have shown that this is the optimum range for effective teamwork. It's small enough that everyone can contribute and have their voices heard, but not too small that it becomes a one-man show. Plus, with a smaller team, it's easier to manage and make decisions.
But wait, there's more. Adding team members beyond that sweet spot of 5 to 9 actually decreases the chances of success. Yup, you read that right. It's like trying to fit too many people in a tiny car - it just won't work.
So there you have it, folks. Next time you're building a team, keep this fact in mind. Quality over quantity, am I right?
Happy team building!

LEARNING THROUGH PP
When you try and do something for the first time, whether it's riding a bike, getting to grips with a new piece of technology or pitching an idea to your boss, if invariably feels quite clunky. Some would even say "I was rubbish!".
That's no surprising really. Everything feels hard when we first try and do it. It's gets easier the more we practice.
At our workshops we put a huge emphasis on practice. We call it PP (inspired by Matthew Syed's book Bounce, How Champions Are Made) - Purposeful Practice. When you practice something specific with purpose, the improvements come quickly. Yes, it feels hard at the start but within a few practices, it's like you magically develop into a more proficient person and from there you get better and better and it gets easier and easier.
Try one of our PP courses today and see how quickly you can master a new skill.

WHAT IS FACILITATION?
The art of articulating clearly what you want people to do so that they do it willingly.
Morgan, you've got this down pat! Love your work and the energy you bring to all our activities.

WHAT'S OVER THE BRIDGE?
The journey to a destination is as much a part of the experience as being there.
Imagine if that journey means crossing a one way bridge over a gorge, with hills of native bush as far as the eye can see.
You have to slow down to appreciate your surroundings and just around the corner, down a narrow track, you come across a lodge with bunk rooms, a river running with swimming holes and a fire pit on the bank where you can korero and collect your thoughts, surrounded by nature.
This place is so loved and cared for and it shows in all the individual cabins and meeting rooms that are all your to use when you book a retreat, an away day or a workshop at Waihōanga River Lodge.
It's just wonderful!

PINCH PUNCH FIRST OF THE MONTH 👊
**Warning** do not go punching your workmates hard - you'll get in trouble.
Want to have good old fashioned banter and competition with your workmates?
That's different.
What we do at Let Me Out is facilitate the competition, make sure everyone knows the rules and are, mostly, sticking to them.
After all, it has to be fair right? 🤔
You pick the challenge and the location and we deliver it.
But there's a big upside to this fun stuff.
It helps de-stress the team, helps lift spirits, create connections that last for weeks or months afterwards.
It's all about putting the time in to help build the team and it re-pays in abundance with:
➡️ better attendance
➡️ better productivity
➡️ better understanding
➡️ better business
You know what do to next....https://www.letmeout.co.nz
IT'S A THURSDAY THING
These funny people here are called Let Me Outers. The eclectic mix of faithful Facilitators who travel all over the country leading Let Me Out Team Building events. ⛷️
In the true spirit of team development, it's essential that they too jump on the equipment from time to time to test their competencies. Are they any good at communication, connectedness, cooperation and trust. 🤜
Well.........there's a bit of work to do, but they've definitely got the most important characteristic - a can do attitude and openness to learn. 👏
Keep working on it Let Me Outers!
If you think your team could do better, book in for The Mighty Planks Challenge, including the classic ski plank challenge in 2024 and we'll put them through their paces.

FUN IS A SERIOUS BUSINESS
It's a great saying and one that we borrow from Doug Gold, the author of the book by the same title, that tells the story of More FM and how the business grew from the beginning in 1991 to be one of the most successful radio networks in New Zealand. It's a good read and we, at Let Me Out, are inspired by it.
In our business of team building it's all about creating fun moments. Beneath the surface of laughter there's a lot going on with teams, by virtue of the challenges we provide, connecting together, developing understanding, trust and communication skills. It sounds a bit cliché doesn't it but there it is. Fun = less stress, Fun = more of you, as a team member, showing up and sharing who you are with others. Fun = better business.
So when people ask what do you do? We create fun and laughter and opportunities to build better teams.

THURSDAY THING
Oh wow! When the sun shines in New Zealand it creates shadows and lights that mesmerise the senses. [Mudbrick vineyard, Waiheke Island]
Glorious colours and tones tripping the mind with awe and almost disbelief. Can it really be this beautiful? Or am I hallucinating?
Real or fake, it fills our cup with gratitude for being able to feel this moment.
Imagine the benefits of all those feelings on our metal health.
So I challenge you, when you see the sun, to take a moment and enjoy the wonder of what you see. It's got to be good for the soul right?
At Let Me Out, it's always been about being outside, enjoying nature and taking it all in.
Get in touch if we can help your team get outside this spring.
