For International Women's Day we're sharing our latest display which showcases a small selection of some pretty notable women! ✨
Boudica - Queen of the Celts. The queen of the ancient British Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the conquering forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60.
Kate Sheppard - Suffragette. Responsible for getting the vote for New Zealand women in 1893.
Eleanor Roosevelt - Diplomat. Advocate for women's and chlidren's rights. First chair of the United Nations Commission for Human Rights.
Sandra Day O'Connor - Judge. The first woman to be appointed to the US Supreme Court in 1981.
Dolly Parton - Philanthropist. Formed the Dollywood Foundation in 1986 to support charities including the Imagination Library and the My People Fund.
Kate Edgar - New Zealand Scholar. The first woman in New Zealand and the second in the British Empire to receive a university degree. She graduated on 11 July 1877 with Bachelor of Arts, specialising in mathematics and Latin.
