Rocky Bay Folk Club presents ANNA FÄLT (Fin/Swe) in Concert + WORKSHOP this Saturday 15th Feb! We are so excited to host, from Sweden, the extraordinary Nordic vocalist Anna Fält. Anna performs songs from the Scandinavian and Finno-Ugric traditions as well as her own material: ancient spells, incantation texts, herding calls, lullabies, yoik, and stories inspired by Finnish forests and Nordic landscapes. Here is the link to my latest album, its also available on all major streaming sites, spotify, apple music etc....in all honesty i cant stand streaming sites but this is the world we live in now, I do however have beautifully printed CD copies available for any who prefer physical media which i will have with me at all future shows (you get a booklet and everything right!) this album has been recorded in between some really nasty hospital treatments over the last year where i haven't been able to get out of the house much and some of that probably shows (a bit weird at times), anyway I am learning to embrace imperfections and now I've put this in the world I no longer have to think about it and can move onto the next one

✨We are pleased to present Nordic folk singer, storyteller, teacher & force of nature ANNA FÄLT Saturday February 15th at the Ōmiha Memorial Hall. Anna performs songs from the Scandinavian and Finno-Urgic traditions as well as her own material in the form of settings of ancient spells, folk songs, yoik, lullabies, stories from the Finnish forests and the Nordic landscapes. Her visit will also include a unique opportunity to learn the extraordinary techniques of Nordic folk singing, open to all with a willingness to extend the use of their vocal chords.. tickets and more info to come. Huge thanks to all who came out for the fundraising concert & to all of you who made such generous donations (of time, resources, & money) even if you couldn't be there. Especially massive thanks to our wonderful & endlessly generous friends Jeff and Lisa, who simply embody kindness & coolness. Sammy and Jeff are two remarkable musicians who live folk music and community, once again bringing all of us together in the Omiha Hall, which has a magic all of it's own. We were thrilled to raise the hearty sum of $2872 from ticket sales, not including the donations that were made directly to the givealittle. We have donated all proceeds to the givealittle, with the exception of a donation of $501 from a generous giver who asked for their donation to go directly to Sammy. This will go towards the costs of his prescription medication & travel. Huge thanks again from the bottom of our hearts! We hope you enjoyed the show. Photos by the awesome Tim D.

Susi, we were honoured to have you share your poems of protest and resistance so beautifully and powerfully at our last folk club meeting. You were more brave and selfless than most of us could ever imagine, and a cheerful, funny, wild-haired wahine and comrade. We were honoured to know you. Ngā mihi for sharing your light with us.
