I wish you all a wonderful 2024. May we as a species please stop the hate. What a sad state some people must consciously live their lives in. For anyone to feel that this type of action is even an option indicates to me they must also live a s**t life themselves, bitter, angry & violent. Arohanui to all the families who have had their memories of their loved ones impacted. I had the privilege of meeting & going to his grave site. Christopher Luxon you all need to step up here, you have been direct drivers of these people starting to turn their ugliness into actions!

I get a bit random from time to time & now is one of those times! I am wanting to try & contact some of the late night shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Jimmy Kimmel Live about an event I will be undertaking on January 23rd 2024 in conjunction with the final event of the current Red Bull Cliff Diving series. During my 3000km hike of Te Araroa - New Zealand's Trail I used the opportunity to raise over $30K for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ. Now 5yrs down the track I have decided I want to raise some more money for wonderful cause. It’s a much shorter venture this time. To honour my 67th b’day tomorrow, I will attempt to do 67 consecutive back somersaults of a local wharf, starting at 8.15am NZ time. Being a celebrant is such a powerful experience. I always feel it’s an honour to be asked to be the celebrant at both weddings & funerals. Funerals are a massive challenge & this was one of the most challenging I have experienced to date. Guy Ralph, who I had never met in life, became someone I am in awe of. A split second is all it took for his life to be concluded here in this realm, at a time when he was truly gaining the height of his powers. His impact on so many people is felt around the world. I am not a hunter or shooter, but have found a respect for that activity through my time with Guys partner Siggi & his family & through being exposed to how he lived his life. He was far more than a hunter & shooter in his work to create a stunning reserve, his love of animals & the prey he worked. RIP Guy Richard Ralph.

I was recently asked to contribute a song to a Spotify playlist to promote Oamaru & Waitaki in the south island of New Zealand. Having tramped the 3000km Te Araroa - New Zealand's Trail I recalled that Led Zeppelin The Battle Of Evermore was a track that gave me the sense of being the commander of the armies of Rohan in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. We shot some of the scenes in this area of the country. There are some cool tracks in the playlist & it was an honour to be asked.

Now this would be a great tour to do, a 5month walk the length of New Zealand. Happy to guide on that. Now that we here in 100%PureNZ do not have an international tourist deluge, can we put some of our focus into our hypocrisy. We are so far from Pure it is frightening. We have the potential to finish off so many of our endemic species & in fact we already have. It takes a voice to be heard, supporting these causes raises such a voice

It’s time for action. We are one of just two countries who still allow seabed trawling in the South Pacific. This must stop.

Very much looking forward to my first celebrant job of the year this afternoon. Really nice couple, he walked the 3000km Te Araroa - New Zealand's Trail the year after I walked the trail, so a really nice sense of connection already in place. I also have 2 more weddings lined up over the next couple of months, such a pleasure to work with people on such a major event in their lives.

I love this country, in particular the small remaining pockets of real NZ nature. Tour guiding allowed me to travel to many of the wonderful spots that people want to see, but tramping the 3000km Te Araroa - New Zealand's Trail last year opened up a whole other realm of experience that is on offer here

Bloody hell, how often in your life to you get to bear witness to this level of natures majesty. I'm not sure if this image is taken at Rakiura, Stewart Island, where I started out this life as a 4th generation islander, but it looks as if it could come from that splendour. Seeing a picture like this has the power to make me feel an attraction back to that place, to be able to live observing nature on this level almost daily.
