“Our ceremony was just perfect for us. Robyn was in tune with what we wanted and what sort of people we were. She consulted with us frequently and designed everything perfectly. Even when I wanted to add a little twist she was more than helpful to provide what I needed. She was relaxed but professional and fitted with our style. It was perfect. Thank you so much Robyn”.

Wonderful to be the celebrant at our beautiful local Tu Ngutu Villa again. Has to be one of the most scenic venues in New Zealand. The imperfect weather didn’t spoil the magic of this intimate spring wedding. Congratulations Tiffany and Daniel…….. loved being your celebrant 🌟

I have used this poem at several goodbyes now. Always resonates with me ……. We ARE our mothers garden 🌻

I have used this poem at several goodbyes now. Always resonates with me ……. We ARE our mothers garden 🌻

My mother kept a garden..

A garden of the heart..

She planted all the good things..

That gave my life it's start..

She turned me to the sunshine..

And encouraged me to dream..

Fostering and nurturing..

The seeds of self-esteem..

And when the winds and rain came..

She protected me enough..

But not too much because she knew..

I’d need to stand up strong and tough..

Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong..

Markers for my pathway
That will last a lifetime long..

I am my mother’s garden..

I am her legacy..

And I hope today she feels the love
Reflected back from me..

A few years ago I worked with a family to weave a funeral service for their dad.....a hard working farmer. This week they have asked me to join with them to weave a funeral service for their mum.
Reflecting back to their dads service, a quote read by me from 'The Farmers Creed' by Matt Hopkins captured the essence of their dad.

"I believe hard work and honest sweat are the building blocks of a person's character.
I believe my life will be measured ultimately by what I have done for my fellowmen, and by this standard I fear no judgement."

Say it with Sand ..........
Integrating families or including your children in your special day by merging personally selected sand in a beautifully scripted sand ceremony is always a delight for me.

I included Jane and Mathew's children in a simple and beautiful marriage ceremony by weaving in a gifting ceremony in which the girls were gifted keepsake personally engraved necklaces.
Including children in your special day can take many forms and in my role as celebrant is something I love to do.

Todays wedding at Woodhouse Mountain Lodge in Warkworth. All set up for a lovely intimate family wedding and then the thunder struck minutes before start time. Thunder , hail and strong windswept rain driving through meant our ceremony was transferred to the library where there were smiles and happy tears. Nothing was going to spoil this magical day. Congratulations Nicola and Sam…….. loved being your celebrant 🌟

Are you thinking of eloping?

In the past if you heard the term elopement it might conjure up images of a hasty courthouse wedding, or an unplanned trip to Vegas with the obligatory “Elvis” overseeing the ceremony!

These days, however, elopements are far more intimate, personal and stylish. And it’s not uncommon for couples to intentionally plan an elopement.
If you’re thinking of eloping, we’ve unpacked the what, why and how on our blog ‘What is an Elopement? And Why Would You do it?’ Read it on the blog now.

Happy Matariki 🌟

….excerpt published by Dr Rangi Matamua

Matariki is a holiday that is directly linked to where we are in the world. It is a group of stars that is acknowledged by every culture on the planet. It's a holiday for everyone, it has no political affiliations and no one owns the sky.

In the morning, during the middle of winter, the stars of the Matariki cluster rise as one group, Matariki hunga nui.

They gather together as one people, a symbol to us that in the new year, regardless of what's gone on, we should reflect and gather together to celebrate who we are as one.

Its significance is underpinned by three key points:

Remembering those who are gone - who we are is built on the backs of the people that have come before us. It's about reflecting on the people we've lost throughout the year and the lessons they've given us. It's about honouring their memories and thanking them for everything they shared.
Celebrating the present - this time is for us to slow down and be with loved ones. A celebration as simple as gathering with whānau, watching a movie together, having something to eat.
Planning for the future - look to the New Year and think what can we do better? How can we support the environment? How can we support the people in our community?
It's about celebrating who we are - a vibrant, diverse nation who have all come to call this beautiful place home.

Mānawatia a Matariki, welcome and celebrate Matariki!

Weddings cause a massive amount of waste. But planning a wedding and making it environmentally friendly can be daunting. You might ask, “Is it more expensive if sustainable?” Or, “Wouldn’t it be easier if I kept to my original plans? No one will notice.”

The Registry Wedding of Tila and Sasiu at their favorite spot at Mahurangi West Lookout was exactly what they wanted. We managed to squeeze the ceremony in just before the clouds opened up.
"Thank you so much for your time, patience, effort and willingness to give us what we wanted for our precious moment despite the weather. We absolutely appreciate it. You made the whole process smooth and simple for us. God bless you Robyn."
