Exploring the Spiritual Significance of the Lions Gate Portal in Daily Life 🦁✨
There is a lot written about the Lions Gate Portal however I don’t read any of it. I can only draw upon my own gnosis, the teaching of my own spiritual lineage and my own direct experience.

In my tradition the experience of passing through the Lions Gate Portal is a sacred rite of passage that is associated with ones innate spiritual power. Spiritual power is not something you can buy or get for free. True spiritual power is associated with an alchemical process, an internal alchemical process that each and every individual is solely responsible for 'cooking' up within the alembic of their own being.

THE TWO LIONS
The degree of spiritual power you possess is determined by many factors. The Lions Gate Portal on 8th August is a significant time that is associated with the sacred rites of passage around spiritual power. At a metaphysical level on either side of the Lions Gate Portal are two lions. Your ability to pass through the Lions Gate Portal and the two associated guardian lions that represent the transmuting of the false ego is directly associated with the degree of spiritual power you possess.

From an occult perspective your spiritual power is directly associated with your ability to transform, transmute and transcend the raw primal power of the inner lion and lioness. This symbolism is shown in the Major Trump Tarot card No 8 Strength.

THE SYMBOLISM OF THE LION
The lion in the Strength tarot card represents courage, power, and the fierce energy that dwells or resides within us all. The lion is a powerful symbol of raw emotions and primal instincts. It is also a symbol of the false ego, the need to be ‘king of the jungle,’ of the personality’s need to be important, to be the centre of attention and have the needs of the lower self instantly met.

At one level, the lion symbolises the infant within each and every one of us that needs the world to revolve around it. That part of us that demands that the world should immediately and unquestioningly give, fulfil or gratify whatever the untransmuted personality self has determined it needs in that moment. The part of us that is inherently destructive and devolutionary and will overtly or covertly, lie, cheat, steal, scheme, plot, manipulate in order to gain power, status, importance or to have the needs of the false ego fulfilled

The lion is a symbol of the raw rage or fury, the shadow energy that has the power to destroy us. The anger, pain, hurt, resentment, jealousy, deceit that wells up from deep within when one’s personal wants or needs are thwarted.

BEFRIENDING THE INNER LION AND LIONESS
The human figure in the card has many layers of meaning but essentially indicates the ability of the soul and spirit to be stronger than the false ego. It indicates the souls ability to be stronger than the raging inner lion. It indicates the magickal process and sacred work of befriending the inner lion and using the transmuted energy to embody the quality of spiritual strength and live a full of infinite possibilities.

LIONS GATE PORTAL - A TIME OF HONEST SELF-ASSESSMENT
The time of the Lions Gate Portal every year is an opportunity to honestly assess what work still needs to be done in order to access untapped inner power or physical, emotional or mental energy that is currently being unproductively deployed. It is a time to work harder to understand the inner untamed lion and lioness that guard the path to real spiritual progress. It is a time to honestly evaluate whether the inner lion is your ally or your foe. It is a time to honestly look at oneself, to assess what needs to be worked on, to honour the highest expression of power of the inner lion and to consciously step into a better more spiritually powerful way of being.🐝
