They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

You may have noticed I have been absent around here..
"So I'm back to the velvet underground, back to the floor that I love. To a room with some lace and paper flowers.. Back to the gypsy that I was.."
Truth be told things have been really hard. In January my business was thriving. I was finding my feet after so much uncertainty & found the love return for the job that I loved so much. I had work/life balance & was loving every second.
All came crashing down with the red light. Invoices went unpaid, emails went unanswered & the cancellations came in.. I was devastated. We had only just been "allowed" beyond the border to our premises in mid January. Uncertainty destroys an industry like this. I was working on rescheduled bookings & playing catch up. Red light came at the peak of the season with no end in sight.. I knew that was the rebuilding of my season over.
The emotional and mental toll this takes on business owners is really hard. We have been through this emotional rollercoaster before but it doesnβt exactly get easier.. How do I put food on the table? How do I show up every day despite wanting to stay in bed & pull the blanket over my face? Those who know me personally know there is far more to my struggles amidst the restrictions and traffic lights. I found myself in a constant state of fight or flight.. Then came the spicycough in late February. Any potential business that was hanging by a thread was lost due to this.
I decided to shift my focus from my business & the things that I could not change to focus on my family. We started homeschooling & getting back to basics. I have changed the way we eat & the way I view things. My quality of life is much better now, despite all the challenges we face.
I'm ready to return to the job I love.. Although I'm returning a bit battered & broken, I am far stronger.. And although the bank account is literally empty the only way has to be up from here.
So.. Hello, I'm back! I would love to make your signage + I would love to book you in for hire or a picnic. Thank you for sticking around.
βTo the gypsy, that remains. Her face says freedom.. With a little fear. I have no fear, I have only love."

**UPDATE**
Hey Foxes,
Today is the 1st of December and I am still not able to access my premises to create signage. It looks as if we should be able to get across the border to resume working from the 17th of January should everything go to plan with the border.. That will mark 6 months since Auckland went to lockdown.. And a very long time to be out of work.
I am going to spend the afternoon contacting customers to offer refunds for signage. If this applies to you and for some reason you do not hear from me, please email me on [email protected] with your bank account details - I won't be offended I promise.
If your signage is required from end of Jan onward, I am unable to offer refunds as all going to plan with the border, these orders will be able to be completed upon my return to work.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Level 3 update 2/11/21.
I have reduced my business admin working hours to one day per week - Tuesday, this means I am up to date with current alert level guidelines. This is due to my family being at home for nearly 3 months now due to this incredibly long lockdown which means it is a constant juggle of family and homeschooling. Please email me / message my page regarding all questions, bookings etc. I am currently not taking phone calls due to reduced hours.
If you are waiting to hear from me you will today, I have to feed the zoo and get some homeschooling done first.
Auckland remains at Alert Level 3 Step 1. If health advice supports it, it is intended that Auckland could move to Step 2 at 11:59pm on 9 November, 2021.
I am currently offering contactless hire and picnics within the Auckland alert level guidelines. This service is completely contactless.
I am currently unable to offer signage due to our workshop where we make our signage being beyond the Auckland border so am not taking orders. I will let you know when this service will resume. I have and will continue to reach out to clients affected by this.
As for all of my hire bookings affected by government imposed restrictions, please check your contract I am here to work with you to the best of my ability.

Hey foxes,
You will notice I have been absent from social media whilst Auckland has been in level 4 for the past 5 weeks. Unfortunately these lockdowns hit my industry really hard and I find it very stressful and it takes a large toll on my mental health.. So I made the decision to take the time out to spend time with my family and doggos.
With the move down in level 3 unfortunately not much changes for me here at The fox in flora. Our workshop where I make the signs and facilitate my Waikato hires is beyond our Auckland border in level 2 while we are in a 3, this time around the borders are operating as a 4 and being that I am not an essential business I cannot access my premises or cross the border. Currently we are at level 3 for at least 2 weeks. I will not be able to access our premises for signage until level 2.
In Auckland under level 3 I can facilitate contactless picnic packages or hire for bubble birthdays, anniversaries and elopements.
If your booking has been affected by the change in levels please refer to your contract and if you are waiting to hear from me I will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you are waiting for a response to a message or email I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I know some of you are wanting to reserve a spot for signage when I am able to return to work, just flick me through an email or message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note custom quoting will need to wait until level 2 as I am unable to order materials currently.
When I am able to return to our premises my priority will be getting out the orders which were unable to be shipped before our snap lockdown level change.
I appreciate your patience and I hope to create magic for lots of you very soon.
Jay x

For those of you wondering.. My tattoo is the meaning behind the name The fox in flora. Inspired by my love for all things Japanese, my love / obsession for peonies and dedicated to our Shiba Inu dogs. We have 3, Mika, Bear and Brucey - they look like little foxes and 2 of our 3 are rescues.
