Welcome everyone to 2025. Looking back on 2024, it was a year of so much floriferousness (our newly discovered word of the year), beautiful flowers and beautiful people. Thankyou to my fabulous team who make bringing wonderful flowers and gifts to the world, one bunch at a time possible - my florists, the lovely ladies in marketing, my wonderful husband who supports us in so many ways and many others that help behind the scenes because it wouldn’t be possible without everyone in our team. We sadly said goodbye to a very special friend and team member after a brief illness but we also welcomed a new baby to the extended team. We cried with customers and laughed with others as everyone celebrated life’s special moments. To all of you, thankyou for your support in 2024 and we look forward to seeing you all again soon. For now I’m enjoying time getting ready for summer crops and quietly planning for 2025. #2025

Best Florist Approved Flower Hacks!! 💐

At The Wild Rose, we want your flowers to stay as beautiful and vibrant as the day you received them so that they bring a smile to your face and boost your mood for longer!

Here are our top tips to keep your blooms fresh and enjoy them for longer:

Clean Vase: Start with a spotless vase to eliminate the possibility of bacteria, which can quickly spoil your beautiful blooms. 🫧

At-Home Flower Food: Flower food makes a world of difference! Every good florist will give you flower food with flowers but in case they don't or you run out! Just make your own! Create your own flower food by mixing one teaspoon of vinegar (which helps to maintain an acidic environment), one tablespoon of sugar (which provides nutrients), and a few drops of bleach with a quart of water to prevent bacterial growth. 😋

Trim the Stems: Every 2-3 days, cut the stems at a 45-degree angle using sharp, clean scissors or pruning shears. This maximises water absorption,
ensuring your flowers stay hydrated. ✂️

Copper Coin Trick: Add a 10-cent coin to the water in your vase. Copper helps flowers stay fresher for longer by reducing bacterial
growth. This simple trick creates an environment that's less hospitable to bacteria. 🪙

Revive Wilted Flowers: When your flowers start to wilt, pour
hot boiling water into the vase. Trim the stems and let the flowers sit in
the hot water for about a minute, then place them back in fresh, cool
water. This shock of hot water can help revive your flowers and give them a
second life, restoring their stunning appearance and giving you a few
more days with your flowers! ♨️

I’ve hosted Christmas today and enjoyed making it a very floriferous day full of trees and sleighs decked with garden picked flowers, food and family. This is Agrostemma Ocean Pearls, more commonly known as Corncockle. It is wispy with gold markings and dances in the wind. In Europe it is considered a noxious w**d but it is the first time I have grown it at our flower farm and we are loving including it in our arrangements and hope you do too.

I love, love, love sweet peas. The fragrance, the colours, the tendrils. We use long branches so that everything can be enjoyed in a bouquet and the foliage lasts for such an incredibly long time in the vase. But I also love a vase of just beautiful stems like this bunch that just looked and smelt so gorgeous as I was picking them. I’ve planted far more than what we need but that just means there’s more than enough to share with everyone. Happy Sunday everyone.
