We're very excited to announce that the Helensville Santa Parade is back....and even more exciting, it is being held right here on the Helensville Showgrounds.

So save the date - Sunday 15th December. Gather your clan and make up a float.

Float entries can be lodged at www.northwestcountry.co.nz/helensville-santa-parade-and-market/ and full details are also on the website page or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/events/499120309542132.

Or just come along and enjoy the day of celebration. The Parade is in conjunction with The Village Christmas Market, which is open from 8.30am to 3pm. The parade itself will start at midday (with assembly and judging from 10am). As well as the market there will be games and rides, coffee, ice cream and food. Oh and of course, Mr Santa Claus himself.

SAVE THE DATE FOLKS - we're counting down....

Schedules will be out in October/November but see page 14 of the September Helensville News (in your mailbox, or online) for some of the fun new indoor classes.

Looking forward to seeing some Rural Rusty artworks - these can be indoor or outdoor sculptures or creations, made of things like rusty wire, driftwood, anything that looks rustic and rural!!

And it'll be great to see how you interpret "Holy Cow" into a floral arrangement or "Birds of a Feather" into a floral wreath (yes, feathers are of course allowed!).

For the blokes, it's time to put your pinny on and get practising your best naked cake recipe...that's the cake being naked, not you (although wouldn't that make a good photography class!).

Whether you're a farmer, lifestyle blocker or have any kind of garden - we're sure you'll be able to find a thistle for the new BIGGEST THISTLE class. We can probably even enter one from the showgrounds! You might want to start cultivating it now....

Go to town all you clever creative people and we'll let you know when the schedules are published.

Our friends at Rural Support Trust Northland, in conjunction with their sponsors, are bringing a BRUNCH ON US to Farm Source Helensville on Tuesday 3rd September. Why not take an hour off-farm and pop in to share some eats and a yarn with like-minded folks from the district. Go on, let RST and their collaborators treat YOU. (Open to all local rural people, you do not have to be a Farm Source customer.)

Hey all our lovely riders - it's SWAPPA-KEY time.

You should have received an email a couple of days ago reminding you that the key renewals are now due. We are changing the lock this FRIDAY (not Monday as earlier advised), so you will need to swap your key over the coming week or so.

If you haven't already renewed, please download the form and email page 2 back to us at [email protected]. The form is on the website at https://helensvilleshow.co.nz/key-holder-hire/ and click on 2024-25 Key Holder Contract Form.

Shona is in the office the following days, to swap keys:-
- Weds 24th July & Thursday 25th July from 10.30am-4pm.
- Saturday 27th (same days as the Pony Club Equestrian Market), from 11am-3pm.
- Tues 30th, Weds 31st, Thursday 1st Aug, 10.30am-4pm.

It is quickest if you can email through the form and pay before you come, so we can have your key all ready. Otherwise we can do eftpos on the day. Whatever works for you.

If those options don't suit, email and we'll arrange something that fits for you.

If you're coming to the Equestrian Market, wear boots (or old footwear) - we've had a fair amount of rain!

PLEASE NOTE - NO RIDING ON SATURDAY WITH THE EQUESTRIAN MARKET ON. THE CARPARK WILL BE AT MAXIMUM CAPACITY, FOR SET-UP AND THEN VISITORS.
FINE TO RIDE ON SUNDAY THOUGH.

Helensville showgrounds is an ideal venue to hire for a range of indoor and outdoor events and activities. Talk to us about showgrounds venue hire.

Shout out to Myles and the team at Tricky Tree Removal for our pre-winter tidy up around the Showgrounds. They've cleaned up all the dodgy branches that looked like they could drop over winter and potentially damage our fences and yards and grounds. What a relief to our grounds team.

Great job, thanks team. We really appreciate it.

What a great day for a horse trek! It was just perfect. Thanks to Adam & Gaie Travers-Bishop for hosting our trek and to Sharron, Wilma, Julie, Dave, Dave 2 for their help with all the organisation/guiding/photos/toilet construction etc.

We had a beautiful ride over rolling hill country, with some steep hills to negotiate and the odd test (water hazards!, narrow sheep tracks and a bit of mud at the end), but it was good fun over excellent farmland with lovely people and their horses.

Just a few pics here but look out for the June Helensville News 2011 Ltd and we'll post a few more later in the week.

Thanks to all the riders for your support. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Watch out for the next trek, probably in November.

🪱🪱 Come and hear the latest in worm management strategies for cattle grazing systems, including practical examples of changes other farmers are making.

The national Wormwise programme is becoming more and more popular as NZ farmers enjoy learning and staying up to date with the latest science. Their stock and wallets are better for it.

Garth Riddle, a vet from Bay of Islands Veterinary Services is our Northland Wormwise facilitator. He's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to refining your drenching programme or farm operations to better manage any parasite issues.

Free to attend for any size farm. Lunch provided! Registrations essential: https://beeflambnz.com/events/blnz-wormwise-cattle-workshops-dargaville-totara-north-and-helensville
