RUSTY RURAL ART is a new class this year, described as "any rural artwork, made from things like wire, metal, wood or a combination" (see page. 18 of the Indoor Schedule, class 794). Really any materials can be used, but they should give you a rural and partially rusty look.

Now we all have rusty old junk at home that's past its best but you don't want to turf out. And we know just how clever many of you are at seeing something beautiful/functional/decorative from a mishmash of materials. Here's your chance to let your imagination roam free and have some fun creating that rural artwork from the old bits and bobs. You don't have to be a welder, but you can enter welded things and there is no size limit. Its all about the imagination and creativity and how you see them.

We challenge you to get into that workshop or garage or under the house, find those treasures and have a crack!

Schedules available at https://helensvilleshow.co.nz/helensville-show-information/schedules-entry-forms/
You can either enter by:-
- using the entry form at the back of the indoor schedule and email it to [email protected]
- or bring it in to the Show office with the entry, after 3rd February.

The Hack Ring welcomes entries from both small hacks (148cm & not exceeding 158cm) and large hacks (over 158cm). Hacks are judged on 60% confirmation and 40% paces and manners and are always a picture to see. They are elegant and handsome. The team at Vets North sponsor our Hack Ring, thanks guys.

This year we introduce the NZTR Thoroughbred A&P Show class, for a Ridden Thoroughbred over 148cm, showing true Thoroughbred qualities. These entries must be registered in any recognised Thoroughbred Stud Book, here in NZ or overseas.

CALLING ALL LEGO FANS...

If you're an adult Lego enthusiast, you might like to enter our new Adult Lego class, at the Helensville Show. We have always had lego classes for the youth, in all age goups. And now we have added class 790 ADULT ORIGINAL LEGO CREATION, any subject. The only rule is it must not exceed 50cm overall (it becomes a space issue otherwise - we can't fit them all on display!).

So come on all you modelers and get creating. See p. 17 of the Indoor schedule (T&C at the front of schedule). And kids, your classes start on p. 24, by age.

The excellent Helensville Paper Plus Select have a great range of Lego, if you're short a piece or two. April and the Paper Plus team are a sponsor for the Show, so do check out their Lego selection.

Schedules are on the website at
https://helensvilleshow.co.nz/helensville-show-information/schedules-entry-forms/

Remember indoor entries are judged the day BEFORE the Show, so you need to enter and deliver them by 10am on Friday 21st February. They are then displayed for everyone to see on Show day.

What a fantastic community we live in. Today we'd like to acknowledge these four local lads and thank them for their mahi at the Helensville Showgrounds recently.

Jamie Hellyer of (along with his Uncle Bill!) did a grand job of cleaning up the grass from our carpark, racetrack and equestrian areas this week. Thank you Team Hellyer.

You can see Jamie at the Helensville Show on his trade stand showcasing Ifor Williams Trailers and he'd love to discuss your trailer needs. Please give him a pat on the back for being a good bloke and helping us out.

Andy Holst Farm Services spent the day mowing for us and moving grass (as he does often during the year). You'll find Andy announcing all Show day and he's an essential part of our team setting up at Show time. As a Life Member, Andy has great knowledge of all things Show-related and will be on the grounds directing the set-up. Cheers Andy.

Johnny Hildreth is giving the equestrian area a final trim ready for the coming Auckland Mounted Games, Young Farmer of the Year Northern regional final AND of course our very own Helensville Show. Johnny will also be here on Show day, probably in the Shearing area or around the Livestock; and during the set-up where his experience, time and machinery are invaluable to us. Thanks Johnny H.

Finally we would be lost without our Richard Bradly - less of a lad, more of a Kaumatua for us at the Showgrounds, which has been part of his life for decades. Richard is our Vice Patron now, so these days he has to get flossed-up on Show day! But during the year he is on the grounds constantly, monitoring and fixing things, running the stock and on his tractor mowing, moving stuff, organising things. Richard is immortalised in our Show board (painted by the talented Retts van Dam), as pictured.

We'd be lost without the support of these local families. Heartfelt thanks from our Executive to them all (and all the other Show families, who step up to make the Show happen each year).

Shout out to the wonderful Lindsay Rushton for repairing our tired old Dairy Unit. He not only fabricated new gates, but rewelded the old rails, made new catches for the chains and painted it all - the cows won't know themselves come Show day!

If you need a great engineer, welder or steel fabricator who does site works, give Lindsay a call on 0273164913. We're thrilled with the job he did for us.

Thanks Lindsay!

Join us in thanking our sponsors Farm Source, Barfoot & Thompson Kumeu and Hellaby for their support of our Equestrian and Livestock rings.

Farm Source are in their element this year with our Dairy theme and we are thrilled to have Fonterra on the grounds on Show day, showcasing all things Dairy. They support not only our Calf Club and Youth Dairy & Beef, but also the Sport Horse ring in Equestrian.

Barfoot & Thompson spoil our Saddle Hunter & Riding Horse ring, with the beautiful Barfoot & Thompson Cup for the Champion Saddle Hunter and an elegant rug for the Champion Riding Horse. And back this year, the Puhoi Axemen Woodchoppers are also sponsored by Barfoot & Thompson, Kumeu, Waimauku & Helensville , pictured here with one of the young axemen in training.

The good folks at Wilson Hellaby are also loyal supporters of our farmers and competitors, providing sponsorship in the livestock area.

We salute and thank these valuable sponsors for your continued support - Farm Source, Barfoot & Thompson and Wilson Hellaby.
