Reflecting on last year's Auckland Anniversary weekend with so much aroha for all of my wonderful couples, their whānau and friends who overcame some pretty big weather, venue and logistics challenges with what Mother Nature threw our way in 2023.

Here's the gorgeous Simone and Tariki who put their trust in me to take over from their celebrant who was stranded in Auckland on the other side of flooding, slips and road closures. Thanks to the amazing preparation of experienced celebrant Dianne, I was able to collect their ceremony, provide a little pre-ceremony reassurance and get these two married - on their shared birthday 💕

When you've picked the most perfection location for your 'I dos' ✅️
When you've carefully prepared the ceremony site over weeks ✅️
When the florals are on point and providing the most stunning backdrop to the raw beauty that nature serves up ✅️
When everyone's there for you and comes prepared for the weather ✅️
With all of these elements combined and more, sometimes there really can't be a Plan B.

So very happy to have helped pull off the amazing Plan A that it turned out to be. Massive congrats to gorgeous local girl Jaime and her handsome new husband Damon, married by me 25.11.23 ❤️

So many things to love about Ally & Nathan's special day back in November.

From the stunning bride's sassy solo entrance into the ceremony, to the gorgeous transformation of their friend's lakeside property to wedding venue (alongside some awesome vendors) to seal their forever love, and subtle nods to tradition woven into the day.

That's what it's all about. Me helping you to create the magic in a way that represents who you are as a couple and what's important to you on the best day of your life ❤️

It really has been the most incredible start 2023/2024 wedding season so far ❤️

So much so that I've completely dropped off the socials for a bit! I'm pretty dedicated to making sure you have the best experience for your big day and ceremony so sometimes overlook making the time to share...

Here's where it all began this season with the gorgeous Victoria and Kenni back in September. Despite a torrential downpour and a ceremony reset, these two lovebirds and newlyweds had miles of smiles - and most definitely a day to remember and cherish forever.

It's National Celebrants Day today so I'm celebrating my reappointment as an independent marriage celebrant for another magical year of ceremonies ahead 💕

What a total privilege to be able to hold space and share love stories in ways that are meaningful and memorable for all of my couples and their whānau - like the gorgeous Lisa and Micah at 🌺 🌸

Loved meeting lots of awesome couples and their families at the recent Northland Wedding Expo 2023. That's my spot alongside the bright and beautiful Taylor & Co. Events NZ stand (no bias whatsoever😉).

The expo got me thinking about what I'd like to gift this year, and for as long as I've been a celebrant, my goal has been to hike to a stunning remote location to perform a ceremony.

So.... I'm giving away an "intrepid" ceremony valued at $600 (travel costs and marriage licence fee additional) to one lucky couple getting married in 2023 or 2024. On a mountain top, out at sea or on a remote beach, lakeside or maybe even in a hot air balloon... it's up to you!

One week ago today. An early morning start navigating the back roads home from Auckland for the afternoon's backyard wedding that ended up postponed until the following day with guests and the chef stranded by the flooding.

Received a call as I made it home from the lovely Dianne, a fellow celebrant also stranded and unable to make it north for her afternoon ceremony.

Great celebrants have great preparation, meaning I was able to step in and cover for her, and marry the gorgeous Simone and Tariki who picked their shared birthday to seal their forever love ❤️

Yes, it was still damp underfoot with the odd shower passing overhead, but nothing could take away the sheer joy of the day for these two sweethearts. A fleeting meeting for me on a memorable weekend, and so thrilled to have been able to be there for them.

Arohanui to everyone - couples, family and fellow vendors - who were impacted by last weekend's devastating weather event in Auckland. So honoured to be part of such an amazing and supportive community xx

Keeping it real and celebrating kiwi summer style with my amazing family this festive season 🌟

It's been a pretty big year of celebrations with two of my beautiful children getting married within two months of each other. All of our love and congratulations, Morgan Walker and Meg Walker, and Caitlyn Cordery and Daniel Cordery, one month married today 💕

So very grateful to be able to spend this time with loved ones, to connect with others from afar - and of course, to you beautiful people for supporting me and trusting me to be there for you to celebrate your precious moments 💍

Just over a year ago I had the total honour of leading the funeral service for a very special young lady who gained her angel wings far too early on Christmas Day 🌟

What an honour again then today wee Christmas angel, to be there with family and friends to celebrate your second birthday with your twin brother - and to marry your Mum and Dad in a surprise wedding ceremony at their home on the farm.

Days like today are what makes what we do as celebrants so very special. Thank you so much Aimee and Dan for trusting me to be there alongside you and your family as you've marked these significant milestones in your life.

Dan, as your sister put so beautifully in her toast to the bride and groom - ko te mea nui, ko te aroha. The greatest thing is love 💕

And guys, I love the look of sheer delight on everyone's faces as they realise you're about to be married! What an incredible way to end the year - congratulations xx

A quiet one at home this weekend (compulsory unfortunately) after a big month of celebrations in November, starting with Greg and Zoe's amazing wedding in Omaha.

So very lucky to get a bird's eye view post-ceremony with long-time friends Skywork Helicopters Ltd along a few generations of the groom's family.

And so very grateful to be there alongside family and friends for the most beautiful reception and most memorable of wedding speeches - and the opportunity to get the dancing shoes out later in the evening 💃

Two months ago today we celebrated two very special people committing to one another as lifelong partners and friends.

I am so very grateful to the team at Mountain Weddings and Married by Soph - NZ Wedding Celebrant for being there to support and guide my son Morgan Walker and his beautiful new wife Megan through their stunning lakeside wedding ceremony in Queenstown.

Mountain weather is unpredictable at best so although we weren't able to take our helicopters into the tops, the team pulled together to deliver these very special moments and memories lakeside instead 💕

One of the things I value most about being a celebrant is getting to know my families and couples and weaving their stories into each ceremony.

Her Majesty's funeral yesterday beautifully combined tradition with those personal and meaningful elements - for both family and those who loved and cherished her.

So very special as well to witness her four-legged friends' farewells for their beloved owner 🤍

The Queen's state funeral service was steeped in tradition, but amongst the pageantry and ceremony were some deeply personal touches too.
