Bar & Functions Manager Wanted

Suburbs RFC is a busy, rugby club based in New Lynn. We pride ourselves on the community feel and our Bar and Functions Manager plays a pivotal, hands-on role in enhancing our presence within the community.
This is the perfected opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in a role with many functions.
There are lots of exciting plans for the future of suburbs and now is the perfect time to jump onboard and be part of that growth.
The Role
Reporting to the club Operations Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of the bar and clubrooms day-to-day operations, including:
• Promote a warm, welcoming, inclusive culture within the club
• Managing bar, club events & function centre services
• Driving marketing initiatives to grow bar sales, events, and functions
• Ensuring compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act
• Leading and developing a casual team
• Building strong relationships with club members, community and suppliers.
• Autonomy to really make the role your own
What You’ll Bring
• Management & leadership experience in the hospitality industry or similar
• Event & Function experience advantageous
• Current General Manager’s Certificate & LCQ or the ability to attain one within 3 months.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Be self motivated and be able to work unsupervised
• Be confident solving problems, making decisions and engaging others
• Be proactive & strong multitasker
The application must have legal right to work in New Zealand.
Minimum 20hours per week - must have flexibility to work as needed based on demand on the club.
Weekend availability essential.

Suburbs Rugby Development Officer

Description:
The objective of the Rugby Development Officer (RDO) is to increase visibility in our community, maintain and foster strong inclusive relationships with our local schools and wider rugby community, while creating and nurturing player and coach development pathways.
A key indicator of the success of your approach, will reflect in increased participation levels across all our junior, secondary schools, age grade and Senior teams for Suburbs RFC.

Suburbs RFC RDO will create, develop and deliver programmes within the club, schools and local community for players, coaches, referees and volunteers.
The RDO role is a pivotal communication point between the Auckland Rugby Union (ARU) its various members (clubs) and the Suburbs RFC Junior Committee and Suburbs RFC Rugby Committee.
The work times are varied, with a mix of daytime and evening work may be required dependant on the planned events and development sessions.

Suburbs RFC has a strong focus on family and community engagement, through events, holiday programmes, rugby introduction sessions, Player development programmes and local school programmes.
Continuing this engagement is an essential component of the RDO role.
Your time management and planning will be critical to your success with your planned time being spent on both Junior and Senior player recruitment and development.

CORE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
This role will require varied key skills and experience as listed but not limited to as below

Education:
*Sports Management, Teaching and/or Coaching Qualification.

Experience:
*Experience in “Coaching Kids” sports management, teaching and/or coaching.
*Experience in Coaching at a high level, i.e representative grades.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:
*Understanding the club and school rugby environment.
*Strong interpersonal skills.
*Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
*Competent computer skills.

Personal Qualities:
*A positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude.
*Forward thinker that can identify potential and develop it.
*Outgoing, confident and results driven.

As a part of the 2024 Whau Arts Festival, Whau The People Charitable Trust are putting on a free gig at the Suburbs RFC Clubrooms - 200 Portage Road on Saturday, September 21, and we're looking for bands, solo acts, and duos who might want to play.
