🏉 Build It and They Will Come 🏉
As the dust settles on an epic Global Games season across Queenstown, Taupō, and Auckland, we reflect on our biggest festivals yet—bringing together over 100 rugby clubs and many more junior teams from across New Zealand and Australia to live their best lives, playing the game we all love.
A massive thank you goes out to the incredible team management and their supporters, who are the real heroes behind these events. These mums, dads, whānau members, volunteers and sponsors, give their time on top of their day-to-day lives to ensure our young people can enjoy these special moments.
To the players, their families, and supporters—thank you for bringing your passion and energy to every game, making this festival unforgettable.
To our referees, thank you for making our game possible and for your tireless efforts, covering countless kms to keep up with the play across so many games.
To our first aid team, St John Ambulance, and the sports physios roaming the grounds—thank you for your hard work, keeping our kids safe and caring for them when the unfortunate happened during over 1,000 games of junior rugby.
Thanks to for helping us in our goal of waste-free events.
To our food vendors for all the yummy kai, and to the contractors who managed everything from Photography and Videography to traffic control to overnight security and everything in between.
To our wonderful host regions Queenstown Lakes District Council Taupō District Council Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and their committees, along with host clubs Wakatipu Junior Rugby Club, Taupo Rugby & Sports Club, Taupo Marist Junior Rugby Tongariro Junior Rugby Ponsonby Rugby Club —thank you for welcoming us. You helped create lifelong memories for our kids, many of whom had never left their home regions before.
Cheers to the Royal New Zealand Air Force force
for the amazing ball drop!
Lastly, thanks to our Global Games team, who give up their time, on top of their day jobs, to create something so special for our most important asset—our young people. You should be so proud of what you have built.
Bring on 2025—we can't wait to do it all again next year! 🙌🏽
