Brad Shilton's Lockdown Tips #2 Tempo/Rhythm/Balance

BRAD SHILTON: My second lockdown video tip is about...Tempo, Rhythm & Balance Making a balanced swing is crucial, but it seems most golfers fail to finish their swing in a balanced position. Losing balance is a sign of inefficient movement through the swing, and will probably make it very difficult to consistently strike the ball well and hit good shots. Rather than search for that magical swing fix during a time when you can't hit any balls, get out on the lawn and just swing the club. Make 5 full swings in a row without stopping. Feel the weight of the club head swinging freely. Swing your driver with the head cover still on it (or a tea towel) to help add some extra weight. Feel your weight transfer into your back foot in your backswing, then into your front foot to start the downswing, through impact and into a nice balanced finish, standing tall, facing the target. Keep the tempo even and the rhythm smooth... Close your eyes for a bit more of challenge. Practice a smooth, flowing, balanced swing and just maybe that swing will follow you onto the golf course in a few weeks time.
