✔️New year means again new goals to try and be more creative - this year I really hope to find the time🙂

💥It has started with a bang - I was lucky enough to have 5 days alone to give our bedroom a complete makeover whilst hubby took the girls camping. A project I have been trying to do since we moved in 4 years ago.

✔️painted our bedroom
✔️stripped our whole bedroom suite to a more natural look
✔️stripped our original bed we made over 10 years ago - out of totara to now be more natural.
✔️did another small side table we had in the dining room

🖤but by getting rid of the silver/black and white wall paper and blue walls it then made our bedroom wall look really bare - I had brought these placemats from Kmart a few years back for a potential project..pleased I kept them as it feels like I have a free piece of wall art now 😉

The large kitchen inbuilt bookshelf is next up 😉

Gosh it's been a while - but got my craft on today 😉!
Just in case anyone is still following and is wanting a cheap coffee table display for the pending festive season..
I dried orange slices in the oven today, recycled cones I have used for the last few years as Xmas table decorations and added some cinnamon sticks.

I have finally got the machine out after a good long year.... excitement and outfit building/making has just begun.. Miss 14 has started her first practise for the "top" part of her outfit for the upcoming much anticipated "Taylor" concert!🙂

Still here, but just no time for crafting or DIY.. feels fun to get the machine out tho 😉!!I do have a few things on my list for 2024 if I can find some time!

So stoked with our first effort!

Things have been a bit quiet around here with any crafting of late.. but thought I would share a few photos of some "making" my mother in law made for us... many many hours of making.

This is the first year we have had these divine "12 days of Christmas" hand embroided felt ornaments. The patience to do this type of project must be immense! .. to make it more special each of her children's family recieved a set.

I have gone back and forth as to how to best hang them to show them off.. this first year they are being hung as a bunting - I have made decals for the pegs numbers tonight - but the bonus with these is I can change the way we hang them each year. (Still undecided if they will stay on the stripes under the stags head.. but for the next week they are here)

Pretty special heirloom to have.

✔️Quick zhuzh up of our old power metre reading boxes before dinner tonight.

These boxes are right in our main entry way, and were so old and yellowed and have been on the list of "to do's" for a while.. hardest thing was to chose a colour to blend that was going to bend in.

Amazing what a can of spray paint can do... just so satisfying small projects like this!

✔️I planted my very first vege garden over the weekend.. a little excited being a first timer!!!

My poor husband got a phone call today as I had an idea on how to pretty that garden up 😉 !! Sooo he kindly cut up some wood and tonight my helper and I are now making custom stakes for the new vege garden👩‍🌾

🤞and the waiting game now to see if my flash stakes actually match the veges in a few weeks 😉

A super quick upcycling tonight whilst watching the netball!! Go the Silver Ferns!!

I have needed some magazine holders/folders for work for awhile but the size I was after, we were struggling to find due to covid hold ups.

Managed to find some old ones on Friday at one of our offices and tonight giving them a super quick pretty up with some left over vinyl I had for work tomorrow 🙂

My desk will look super flash now ;)

✔️And last weekends "welcome sign" project has found its place tonight in our carport 🙂

🤔Bit of debate over the positioning but we couldn't use the main concrete wall as that is where the girls do their netball passes;)

✔️Really happy with this upcycling with next to no cost as everything was on hand (or found in garden). The before is in the comments if you are seeing the post for the first time 🙂

Another completely going off track project - whilst doing the top coat on the garden shed today - I didn't even know I needed one of these prior to today😉

I found the very base of an old rotten wine barrel buried in the garden, and decided to try and do something with the rusty old circular ring.

Will hang this at one of our entrance ways 🙂 it's about 60 cm so quite big. Some good ole eucalypt wood we had - which we were going to make into garden tool storage hangers - that might be next weeks job 🙂

Will be against a concrete block wall and all our doors are black so should hopefully pop once we hang it 🙂

Smaller upcycling job finished today,...

🤔TBH I was painting the garden shed and then got one coat on and completely waylaid by some pots that were calling out for some attention too🙂

✔️I saw the price of planters yesterday while down in Invercargill and true to fashion decided I should just tidy the ones I already have up.

✔️These were painted a few different colours different 😉 but finally happy with a more muted tone. Such a difference and no cost really as had the paint for other projects 🙂

🤷🏻‍♀️I am not a gardener at all - but any tips on what plants I could put in them now greatfully recieved 🤞

✔️Birdcage makeover complete 🙂

The last photo is the before - I found this antique cage on trade me. My daughter desperately wanted the birds in her bedroom so decided we had to find one that slightly matched her decor.

We had fun making some more natural type decorations for the birds. The cage was spray painted. Lined the bottom with flexible lino - which is easy to fold up and clean when need be.

It is hard to see in the photo but I had our local window screen/glass business cut a piece of flexible Perspex to go around the bottom to hopefully act as a seed flicker outer deterrent. 😉

The birdcage is currently hanging in Miss 11's bedroom but this project may become a project I end up having to on-sell. Unsure at this stage if we can have birds in a house with other bird obsessed animals! Will give it a few weeks and see if their obsession goes:(

A completely different upcycle started late today.

We have inherited two love birds (Daisy and Clover) I said to the girls we would only keep them if I could find a nice cage!- apparently they have to stay in Miss 11's newly painted bedroom😉.

Luckily a work mate collected my trade me purchase in Chch and it arrived this arvo ... it is wayyyyy bigger than I thought - but a very cool old school cage! 😅

Can't wait to share the finished project - will take a few weeks to properly cure etc for the precious wee birds! Sophie and I are keen to make hammocks and huts etc for them.. sometimes these projects become way bigger than they should lol!

The pantry organisation is finally complete😍

It ended up taking a few more online orders and pick ups to get the perfect number and sizes of containers - 😉 very lucky to be able to muck around with the labels having the machine on hand 🙂

Is it sad that I open and just stare 😉? .. the OCD is in heaven 😍

✔️ How therapeutic is getting or feeling organised ?

Ever since I grew up I have wanted to buy my own set of spice jars.. that and my own good saucepan set (turning 50 soon hubby.. hint!!) 😉!! But after years of spending way too long trying to find the perfect spice jars I finally found this large set, perfect size, glass, screw top, fun labels etc...all the things on my spice jar wish list🤣. I am stoked with my purchase.

Saturday afternoon I finally got out my stencil machine after a long break and started giving my pantry a makeover.. still a bit to go but getting there.

I feel like it's been ages since I have been creative.. the dreary winter☔️ 😞

I needed something to fill a wall space in my daughters room so made this wreath today - super lucky to have a florist friend that had a great collection of dried goodies. (Thanks Steph)

I got the inspo online a few months ago whilst researching door signs for her room - (needed to hide a hole;))... but got completely distracted when I spotted this idea. I found the hoop online but had to spray it gold for the effect, added jute string, the flowers and ready to hang😍

Still looking for that inspo for the door sign for a tween tho 😉 but super happy this caught my eye too!😍

The latest diy project is finished - a waterfall small coffee table for the girls lounge🙂

A joint project with hubby.. didn’t cost a thing as we used wood from the farm.. used glue/sealants etc that we already had.

The room it’s in is quite small, so wanted a simple and small feature in there. But the character of the wood does help -
Will work on a few accessories at some stage for the top.

There is plenty more on the project list still 😉

I had to share our Sunday lockdown afternoon activists! The giggling is contagious - a fun easy idea.. has kept them giggling for quite awhile! Now one is back inside vacuuming and the other two tidying the lounge - so random!! 😳😳😳 I am still outside having a cider 😉!! If you need a donut recipe post let me know but they were super easy in the bread maker ones.. will put a photo in comments.

We have a birthday in our house on Monday so Miss 7 and I are wrapping Miss soon to be 9’s birthday presents. She is a real chocolate fend.. I found the cutest idea last week at Dellasgiftboxes I think Sophie is going to be sooo excited.. if it can be kept a secret until then ie ;)🤞 Thanks so much Della for the incredible customer service you gave me in such a tough time this last week. I had some fun today !! This could be used for anything 😉 ... 🍒jobs needing to be done 🍒Mum and dads fizzy drinks 🍒Meal planning anything ! This is the only one available being my sample - $50 pp of $10 or $12. The black rectangles are chalk paint 😍😍 I have ordered well over 50 today argh!! I have bought in the lazy Susan (39cm birchwood - so a good strong hard wood) and then deconstructed, did my bit and then reconstructed again 😉 Melanie is the lucky recipient from the competition earlier in the week. This is why I can’t work in school holidays ... far out the stress levels today on day 1 are extremely high trying to get my last orders out.. in between music blearing, puppy games, make up, high heels, curling hair, every friggen show you can think of, making yr own morning tea of meringues.. (Thanks Nanna Annie - I need your here today ;)) choc biscuits and 1/4 of an apple.. the list goes on!! This morning has reassured me why my decision each year to take a break now is the right one ;)
