Organised by the Blenheim & Districts Highland Pipe Band we aim to run an annual Ceilidh in Marlborough. Tickets available to purchase online at Eventbrite - Please note a small ticket fee applies.

What is a Ceilidh? A social event with Scottish music traditi

onal dancing and customs. Originally the word Ceilidh (kay-lee) descended from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’… these days when people think of a Ceilidh, they think of a fun filled night of dancing, good music and great company! We have a great venue, a Ceilidh band, food and great company. There's a bar available to purchase your own beverages, strictly no BYO. Prizes for best dressed in keeping with the Scottish theme. Don't worry we've got that covered to as the band has a caller who will run you through a wee practice before each dance starts. This is a family friendly event suitable for young and old so come along for a dance, meet new people, sit and watch the dancing, have a chat and enjoy some fantastic music! We'd love to see you at our 2023 Ceilidh!

Wow what a fantastic turn out - a sell out event for our Ceilidh for 2022 - thanks to everyone who came out! Photos and Videos to follow of the amazing evening! Well done to everyone who helped make the event a success in particular the organising crew and supporters from the Blenheim & Districts Highland Pipe Band and all those who came to entertain: Dunwofflin Ceilidh Band, Cuttin' Bracken Folk Band, Lynda our amazing caller and MC, our incredible local Highland Dancers and Scottish Country Dancers you were all fabulous, we had a blast and can't wait to do it all again in 2023!

Ceilidh dances are usually done in twos or in groups - often 6 people per group. Some of the main dances you can expect to see / join in with at a ceilidh are: the Gay Gordon’s, the St Bernard’s Waltz, a military two step, a Virginia reel, strip the willow and the Dashing White Sergeant. The fantastic ceilidh band Dunwofflin have a caller who talks you through each dance slowly before the music / dance starts. Heres a video of a some of the dances in action - as you can see we don't take things too seriously, you can go at your own pace and it's loads of fun

The Ceilidh happening tomorrow night Sat 27th Aug is organised by Blenheim & Districts Highland Pipe Band to raise funds for competing and performing at events throughout the year.
Competing three times a year including at the National Competition. Aren't we lucky we get to hear them playing here in Marlborough throughout the year at the ANZAC parade, Christmas Parades and other local events. The Pipe Band practice every week and are always looking for new people to get involved. We hope to see you for a fun night at the Ceilidh to support our Pipe Band enjoy hearing them play along with other talented musicians!
