We’re making some big changes around here! ✨
I’ve been pretty MIA on social media due to getting pregnant and struggling with severe morning sickness! During the time away I’ve had a lot more time to think about what I want to focus on here at Makeath Creative.
I’ve decided to shift towards wedding flowers whist also keeping our bloom bar open for those wanting to create DIY arrangements. Both of these options will be available NZ wide!
We’ll be showcasing our very first wedding order of this season, starting with these dreamy buttonholes ☁️

The meaning behind the name Makeath Creative ✨
When I started Makeath Creative, I wanted a name that was unique, personal to me and my family and one that was broad enough that it wouldn’t limit me to a specific product or industry.
So I came up with the name Makeath which is a combination of my maiden last name (Makarious) and husband’s last name (Heath)🤍
And there you have it! Hopefully this also helps you know how to pronounce it!

We’re taught that like people, a brand should have 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. What values would Makeath Creative have and what will it represent and stand for?
Today I read a christian book called “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper where I was convicted to be 𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 about 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 and 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳𝘀 and 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 come 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺.
The book states “What you love determines what you feel shame about. If you love for men to make much of you, you will feel shame when they don’t. But if you love for men to make much of Christ, then you will feel shame if he is belittled on your account.”
So I have decided to use my love for everlasting flowers to 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗱 the 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿. What this will practically look like is still yet to be determined! I hope you’ll stick around to find out though 🤍

Let’s talk preserved vs dried flowers! What’s the difference?
Preserved flowers have been preserved using non toxic chemicals to preserve the natural look of the flowers for years to come (when looked after properly). Preserved flowers are soft to touch and are more flexible than dried flowers. Preserved flowers can also be bleached or dyed providing us with a wide range of colours to work with.
Dried flowers on the other hand have been dehydrated, ridding them of their natural moisture. As a result the appearance of dried flowers become more dull and brittle. However this produces flowers with a beautiful earthy tone to work with. As the process for drying flowers is easier than that of preserved flowers, dried flowers tend to be more affordable.
Both are a wonderful sustainable flower option. We use both types in our bouquets and arrangements. We love the earthy tones of dried flowers but we also love using bleached preserved foliage and flowers including hydrangeas, ferns and ruscus.
