Escapeworks is a family business which grew out of us enjoying and talking about escape rooms together. There are five of us (kids aged 11, 13 and 16, and the parents - never mind their ages). When we started doing escape rooms we found that we all love different aspects of what makes a great escape room experience: engaging stories and scenarios, clever puzzle design, tricky tech, and the arty, v
isual elements that bring it all to life. We love how, despite diverse interests and ages, everyone in the family contributed in some way when we did an escape room together, and everyone came away with their own story about the experience. Long story short, we began making plans to open our own escape room premises in Christchurch, and that's still on the cards. But Covid times sparked some creative thinking, and we began work on making the escape room concept more portable and more accessible from your own home or office. We talked to people who wanted to run escape room birthday parties, or to have some mates over to do an escape room without all the masks and scanning, or to do something different as a team-building activity at work. So we've developed some ideas that we hope will tick those boxes and be a lot of fun. Behind the games we are developing at Escapeworks are four key values:
1. Creativity and originality - escape games based on clever Kiwi DIY
2. Being family-friendly - escape games which are about fun and challenge, not fear
3. Succeeding together - escape games which enhance teamwork and draw out the best in everyone
4. Intellectual curiosity - escape games which make you wonder about the world and about how things work
We hope you enjoy your Escapeworks experience as much as we've enjoyed putting it together.
