Hey friends. I'm happy to announce today that your tutors for Spinsational - Free DJ Workshop & Open Decks this Thursday will be myself (The Voidwalker) and Paige Julia!

*Spaces are limited to twenty, so get in now to secure your spot.*

Please note this is a class aimed at beginner and hobbyist DJ's. More established DJ's may find some of the material to be fairly basic, however each in attendance will have the opportunity to receive free tutoring on both the Pioneer XDJ-RX2 controller, and a CDJ-2000NXS2 setup.

I'm going to be teaching you the basics of matching BPM, rhythms, phrasing, and the basics of song structure. Then Paige and I will be giving you an overview of the fundamentals of each of the DJ stations, followed by a practical exercise around the previous topics. At this point you will have the opportunity to practice and get some experience on this professional DJ equipment, with us there to assist you!

Phwoar, Sustain / Release . Vol 1 - (all ticket sales supporting performers) was huge 🔥 From atmospheric synth to phat dubstep, glitch to bangin' breakbeats, we covered a fair amount of musical landscape! AND the absolute win here, we raised $1625 to be split evenly amongst our artists 🙌

Thank you so much everybody who came, and all those who donated above and beyond their ticket cost in support of our producer/performers! I was grinning and chuckling like a madman all night at how well it was going, best reception yet.

Last week VOID SOUND donated their time and gear to a brand new music night and collective - Slow Motion!

We bought the clear, sparkly sound for a chill rave featuring Downtempo, Slowtronica, Slow House, Organica, - and more. With a speed limit of 115 BPM came an appreciation for the finer details of slower music!

With the help of a tuned, quadrophonic PA comprising of four professional tops and four subwoofers, we experienced downtempo in a WHOLE new light! Seriously groovy vibes!

Massive props to the Slow Motion crew for creating such a lush, gorgeous space in Exchange Christchurch - XCHC, and huge love to the DJ's that graced the space with their tastes

We've contributed to some killer events this year, and over the next few posts I'll be highlighting some! First up is Mary Hush - Slow Boat to Centauri, an incredible multi-sensory, space themed immersive celebration!

The Mary Hush crew converted the whole top floor of the Addington Mill into a spaceship complete with flight deck, spaceship corridor lighting, a projection mapping zone with black hole, and so much community created space-themed art!

VOID SOUND went big on the sound-system front, with 6 various single and double subwoofers, and 6 tops for a stereo, quadrophonic dance-floor! We held space for a whole range of DJ's and performers including hybrid-band Beacon Bloom, and incredible Auckland- based DJ facettes!

Hey friends! Lots going on this week! If I have the pleasure of living and playing alongside you in Christchurch and at Exchange Christchurch - XCHC you'll know that alongside my music production this year I've also been delving into the world of professional audio 🎧

I've been taking every opportunity this year to learn about the science of sound; setting up, tuning, and running soundsystems from teeny weeny to phwoar! I've also been slowly building a PA at XCHC that you've most probably enjoyed by now 😉 Thank you Subminimal Jim, Ryan Ferris, Sofiane Tib, and Preston Hegel to name but a few that have been teaching or enabling me!

The point, right. I've started a sound business! All my sound work will now be ran by VOID SOUND, and I'm already in the works planning gigs, band nights, immersive parties, and more in the city! Yay! If you'd like to follow me on this journey, now's your chance 🙂
