In this weeks episode of The Green Room - RDU98.5FM, Otautahi legend, MIDNIGHT DUBS, Will be joining VUDU NZ in the RDU 98.5 FM studio to deliver some top notch sounds to the 03 airwaves. Paul is quite the figure within our scene so am super excited to have him on the show. Tune in @ 4PM for 2 hours of sonic pleasure, with MIDNIGHT DUBZ taking control from 5PM.

'Paul aka Midnight Dubs has been a fixture on the NZ music scene since 1999, when he released his first debut EP as Confucius. Collabing with his brother Damien on DnB as the duo CMD, and dubstep as Joint Forces, these lads had digital and vinyl releases throughout the 2000s and early 2010s.

It was around 2000 that Paul also teamed up with Gabriel Calcott, aka Messenjah, to form the reggae & dancehall production duo known as Reality Chant, who have worked with such artists as Luciano, Jah Mason, Mykal Rose, Cornell Campbell, Earl Sixteen and many others.

"In recent years, Midnight Dubs has had multiple dubwize and jungle releases with Melbourne based Christchurch lad LQ on Echo Chamber, Lickshot and other labels. He has featured on many Echo Chamber and Run It Red releases, one of the most recent being the Echo Chamber x Run It Red double 12”.

In the past, Midnight Dubs has supported a raft of artists, including Jackie Murda (Chopstick Dubplate), Aphrodite, Maldini & Vegas, Kora, and many others. His selection of exclusive Jungle and Dubwize tunes means that you will always be experiencing something fresh, and something you have never heard before..."

"Az Purr" is a fresh, alternate alias of mine, which i have created to explore and project the more vibe-heavy/ soulful side of bass music.
I have definitely found the "VUDU" sound, and will still be pushing the rhythms hard, however I see "Az Purr" as a new pathway to further express myself through sound.

This time the homie NOVAE will be joining us once again to deliver an "Anthology" style showcase of 100% strictly hardware productions. Some of which compused using an sp-808, sp-606, sp-404, Korg Electribe sampler 2 & Digitakt. (Shout outs Flandiz & Caramel Smooth)

After being birthed into a family life of sound systems and outdoor dance parties, Novae found passion for underground electronica at a young age. With bountiful inspiration from his upbringing, Maori Whakapapa and friends, Novae seeks to create rhythmic, electronic soundscapes with various hardware devices in which convey his identity and hybridity.
