Kia ora lovers! It’s been a minute since my last It Starts With Yes social media post, but I’m excited to finally be back online now 🌸

Over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing highlights from ceremonies I officiated, as well as events I got to emcee - 2022 was filled with some absolute gems 🌟🌟

For now, I’m wishing you all a gorgeous summer 🌞 And to my fellow vendors: I hope your wedding season has brought everything you’ve been looking forward to (and then some)!

How good is a summer break! After a turbulent yet amazing 2021 I decided to take a social media break over the summer, to savour the sunshine while it lasted 💜

Over the past three months I went on a Queenstown vacay with my husband, organised a massive birthday party, worked on some top secret projects for the new year, and even got myself back into the flow of yoga / meditation 🧘‍♀️

To summarise, I tried to be intentional about everything I did this summer.

Intentionality is something I pay lots of attention to in my celebrant work. That is, having reasons for why certain elements are included in a ceremony.

Questioning tradition usually leads to a deeper appreciation of it, or alternatively helps us find ways to tweak the bits we don’t like 💡✨

So, what about you? What have you been feeling intentional about lately? 🌤

24 07 2021 - Bramble Grove

“Speaking with the two of you, I learnt the love between you is deeply connected to your love for God. I have witnessed the kindness, gentle care and pure commitment that you show to one another, and I know that these values are mirrored in teachings from the bible. You told me that through your marriage, you hope to inspire others to pursue holiness, and I can see why you might be successful with this mission..” 🕊✨

If felt like Amber and Chris’ ceremony wrote itself, because their ideals and values are aligned very closely.

Sometimes couples struggle elaborating this, though - it can be hard to see the forest when you’re surrounded by trees. As a celebrant, some of the most exciting moments of my work are sitting down with two people, and asking the kinds of questions that give me just the right amount of insight to write a personal, unique wedding ceremony for them.

Usually, couples aim to find the *one* perfect celebrant who will suit the Big Day they envisioned. What if sometimes, however, it takes two celebrants to truly capture your essence as a couple? 🤔

When Amber and Chris started making wedding plans, they asked me to be their celebrant. While they were super excited about their civil ceremony, they shared their hopes of getting married under God on the same day.

To honour the couple’s wishes, I got in touch with their chaplain and we worked out a way to collaborate on the ceremony: While I took over the introduction, storytelling and legal marriage, Chaplain Mitch led the couple in prayer and blessed their rings and union 🕊

When I finally got to pronounce them Mr and Mrs Irwine, there was magic in the air. The ceremony couldn’t have been a greater success - Amber and Chris felt that it truly empowered them as a couple 🤍🤍

If this story resonates with you or you might be in a similar position as Amber and Chris were, don’t hesitate to reach out to me - there are so many ways to tailor a ceremony and I’d love to chat about them with you 📬🙋‍♀️

As they say - team work truly does make the dream work 💍

Nothing like a beautiful bouquet to round off the outfits of the bridesmaids and, more importantly, the bride 💐

Have you thought about what will happen to your flowers after you’ve walked down the aisle on your Big Day?

Some brides love to hold on to them throughout the ceremony; some like to pass them to their mother or mother figure; some like their maid of honour to hold them, and some place them next to the wedding papers. The options are endless! That’s why it’s a great idea to think about them well in advance - this avoids having to figure out a solution on the spot 😉🤞

My role as a wedding celebrant doesn’t just include the spoken elements of getting you hitched - it also includes raising questions beforehand, that ensure your ceremony runs smoothly (down to the smallest detail) 🥰

Taking a view towards the new traffic light system in New Zealand, being a fully vaccinated wedding vendor means that I can remain part of your Big Day - no matter the level 🚦❤️

I’ve created these social media tiles for any of my wedding vendor colleagues to use, so if this is you, feel free to screenshot or flick me a message and I’ll send you the image 🙂

Lastly but most importantly, to any couple reading this, especially those making plans to get married: My heart goes out to you for the many decisions you’ll be faced with, and I have no doubt some of them will be absolutely heartbreaking. Don’t forget that your wedding is about creating memories for YOU, and to celebrate the love you found 💍✨

I have full confidence that my colleagues in this industry, just like myself, will be working their hardest to support you and to respect your decisions.

Warming rings and hearts

Some of my favourite moments at Eddie and Nura’s wedding ceremony were light-hearted and candid. Getting to share a laugh with a couple and their guests really does set the tone for the whole day 🌻🌞

The intimate setting of their ceremony enabled us to include a ring warming ritual. During the ceremony, the wedding bands were handed from guest to guest, each of them sharing a wish for the couple’s future together. Getting everyone involved meant gaining special memories of wisdom, laughter, and happy-tears 🥰

Congratulations to you, Nura and Eddie - for your beautiful marriage and for putting on a spectacular day.

“May your commitment comprise the spoken, the unspoken and everything wonderful in between.”

Thinking about this special wedding ceremony for Steph and Jack still feels like it was a dream. What an event! What a celebration! What a love you share!

It was an absolute pleasure to wed the two of you, Mr and Mrs van Beynen. Thank you for letting me play a part in this beautiful day 🥂🌞

Kia ora Facebook! Here’s a little bit about who I am, as a celebrant - cue the spotlight ✨

It starts with yes.

Whether you are planning to tie the knot in a relaxed and intimate setting, are organising the ceremony of a lifetime, or are trying to find the perfect middle ground: Saying yes marks the occasion of your wedding.

As a fun-loving and bubbly 28-year-old I am excited about lighthearted and sentimental story-telling. As a celebrant, I am committed to guiding moments that make your special day unforgettable.

I was born in Germany and raised bilingually; I am therefore able to officiate weddings in German or English. Since moving to New Zealand in 2014, I have been on a mission to create different spaces for connection and belonging.

With your personal wishes at the heart of my work and the learnings of my training with The Celebrant School in mind, I will ensure that your ceremony becomes everything you need it to be, and more.

❤️❤️ Sounds like a piece of you? Get in touch, let’s talk about your perfect *yes* moment! X
