Our Story

Ferrymead Park features an early 1900’s (Edwardian) township, with exhibits such as houses, picture theater, school classroom, church, jail, railway station, lodge hall, post office, printers, tobacconist, general store, lawyer’s office and more. There is also a large array of heritage museums and displays that are often open for viewing, particularly on Sundays. These museums are owned and operated by individual societies. Their own volunteer workers restore and display their collections, such as tractors, fire engines, aeroplanes, trams, trains, theatrical operations, mini rail, model trains, radios, photography and much more.

Over the years we have become recognized by the community as a must visit destination rich in history and learning opportunities. Support by local businesses has helped us grow and maintain the park to look fresh and alive so when you visit it feels as if you have stepped back in time. Local businesses such as Sthil Shop Fosters have generously donated equipment to keep us a well oiled and functioning business.
