Wedding in the Park

The rhododendrons are starting to add colour and perfume to the driveway as they emerge from winter and start showing off their magnificent colours. The azaleas and lilies are waiting for a bit longer but in the meantime the new cherry garden is looking great in it's first spring.

The Helebore garden has been adding some great winter colour to the garden beds along the main driveway. Also known as the "winter rose" they do great under the large deciduous trees that give them winter light but protect them from the strong summer sun. Many different shades of whites, pinks and purples catch the light and their early arrival make this flowering garden a great introduction to the Park..

Even in a hot summer there is colour all around in the Park. The cafe has some beautiful sunflowers at the moment.

This is the time to see the Rhododendrons as their colour and perfume make the track a high light of the Park. The track now connects nicely to the Adventure Playground via some new steps that have been put in.

The magnolias are stunning this year in the rhododendron track. The rhododendrons are just starting to show their colour and tremendous variety.

The helebores, or winter rose, as they are sometimes known are starting to show great colour.

Some of the rhododendrons are still in flower and now the lilies are coming out in their spectacular displays. I'm sure our December weddings will love the colours and perfumes.

The colours and perfumes of the early flowers have begun hinting the end of winter and the arrival of spring not far away. We offer talks and tours through spring for community groups that want to learn some history or see the amazing rhododendrons. Email the office. [email protected]

Autumn colours are looking fantastic at the moment. 160 exotic trees planted around the heritage buildings have painted a canvas with 160 different reds, oranges and yellows!
