Once again, we have reached that time of the year where we celebrate Christmas!

We are extending this invitation to all whānau in our hapori to come and enjoy a day of family, fun, food and activities at Te Waka.

We have a special treat between now and the end of the year: Join any number of our Māori Arts and Crafts classes for only $3.50 per class and learn Harakeke/Weaving.

No experience necessary. All materials supplied.

Learn how to weave stars, flowers, baskets, coasters and placemats.

You will need to reserve a spot, as we're limited by the space in the room. Just email [email protected] or phone 981 2881 and let us know what date/s you'd like to join (make sure you give us your phone number when you book).

Available dates are: 20, 27 November, 4, 11, 18 December (join in as many as you like).

Classes take place Wednesdays 1-2.30pm at Linwood Arts.

Ages 10 and up, although 10-13 year olds must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Location: Linwood Arts, 388 Worcester St, Christchurch, free parking onsite.

Opening Hours: Tuesday-Saturday. Galleries 12-5pm, classes start from 10am and evening activities start from 5pm.

We offer 16 weekly daytime classes & activities, run exhibitions and events in Eastside and the Mini and hire our spaces for arts activities and events evenings and weekends.

It is with a heavy heart that the whānau share the passing of Norman (Brownie) Brown.

We will be going onto Rehua Marae Tuesday 2nd of July where Norman (Brownie) Brown will lay until Friday 5th July.

The whānau will be taking Brownie on to Rehua Marae at approximately 12:30pm , Tuesday 2nd of July.

We will then be welcoming whānau onto Rehua Marae at the approximate times below. We ask that whānau try and plan around these times below.

Photos just added. It's like watching The Block!.... Not very exciting to look at but great to know that the wall linings are going in and the flooring will hopefully start next week. Have you seen the new frontage? We will soon have a pathway and fencing. I'll be looking for someone to help gather and plant the front area as well. Get in touch if you know someone 😀
We will still be closed right up until Christmas, hoping to get in early next January!
It's going to look and feel amazing xx

Applications are NOW OPEN for the Ihi Aotearoa Sport NZ Graduate Programme

The two-year programme, starting in January 2025, is focused on supporting future leaders and helping to kickstart young people’s careers in sport and active recreation.

The programme offers opportunities for graduates to be involved in many aspects of SNZ's work – from research and investment to education, communications and programme delivery.

Current graduates are enjoying placements at the New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) and the Crusaders, while former graduates are working in a range of roles from general manager and community project lead with NSOs and from sport injury prevention to sport and recreation lead with Council.
