I'm doing a lily workshop this week in conjunction with the Canterbury Horticultural Society (Tuesday evening, with more to follow if needed).
We will make a big beautiful lily bouquet and then a lily expert will talk you through 'scoring' lily bulbs and how to grow your own stunning blooms.

Heyo 👋 this is me getting a cheeky pic at our last styled shoot with & what a fantastic day that was!
I am Caitlin, the creative dreamer & wearer of all the hats that happen to make Freya Flora work.
Business is hard and sometimes (well if I'm honest, most times) I just don't think I have what it takes. There are just too damn many hats!! I'm still trying, still loving it and still incredibly passionate about floristry but am definitely feeling the squeeze-somethings gotta give!!
I'd like to do a huge shout out to you if you've ever brought something from me, you have no idea how much every flower order, every plant purchased means to me.
I'd like to thank all my beautiful brides (& grooms) for trusting in me and allowing me to be part of your weddings-these events are truly special and unique and they always make my heart sing.
To those of you who have participated in a workshop or a flower party - thank you. I love sharing my skills and it always brings such joy to see others exploring their own creativity.
Thank you to everybody who likes and comments on my posts, these things help to make this social media beast 'work' and I am eternally greatful for these smaller signs of support as well.

Our Story

FREYA FLORAL Botanical stylist. Caitlin Joy.

Trained in 2008 gaining a New Zealand Professional Florist Association qualification in Hamilton and moving to Wellington to begin a career in floristry. Working for top florist’s Bunch Floriste and Flowers Manuela before moving to Amsterdam to learn and continue to grow. The flowers there are truly stunning-but no foraging is allowed! Returning home a few years later I moved to Christchurch where I began to explore febella flowers (now FREYA floral) further and bring her to life. I have been in horticulture a long time and have won several awards at Ellerslie flower show as well as World Skills and YHTO. I love being involved in weddings, it is such an honor to be chosen to create florals to reflect a couple and their life together and love for each other. Being involved in photo shoot’s is always fun - creating different ideas and bringing them to life. Large scale events are a passion, I just love transforming spaces! Another absolute honor is being chosen to create something magical to reflect a loved ones life-like a final gift to be treasured. I am able to create foam free designs so you can leave them to become one with the earth which embraces and holds our friends and family when they depart this life.

I use 100% New Zealand grown product which means everything is seasonal. I source foliage from various gardens and growers and other special spots around the city. With my background in horticulture I am always careful to take only what I need and think about the well being of the plants I am taking from when foraging. I am a ‘green florist’ and a foam free designer. Come check out the new store to see some of my work. You can fine FREYA floral inside EARTH collective in Ferrymead.
