The evening featured a powerful key note from Former pro wakeboarder
Brad Smeele: living with quadriplegia.
Nine years ago, a catastrophic accident changed his life as an elite athlete.
He says becoming quadriplegic as a 27 year old has taught him so much about survival and finding the strength to get through the darkest of times and the darkest of thoughts.
He really was inspiring!

EVENTS: STILL STANDING - dedication
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit many industries hard, and at enthuse media & events - who manage the singing waiters.. amongst other event services - while we focus on the media & marketing comms and storytelling, video side of our business, we have felt it on the events side of our business.
Events were amongst the first industries to slow down and get hit and may well be one of last to be brought back to full life. There are online virtual opportunities that are very real... get in touch to discuss ✅👍🎤🎬🎤, but just take a moment to consider the tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people whose livelihoods are dependent on the risk-takers who take the risk to run an event.
I am optimistic we can, and will have a healthy event industry again; At enthuse we have had a number of events and conference bookings cancel or postpone until next year.
It’s been a while since we’ve performed so wearing my events and entertainment hat I recorded two quick songs on Friday morning, dedicating an iconic David Bowie song to our essential workers - they are our heroes, and then this one…. That I hope hits a positive note at a really challenging time… it’s for everyone putting up a good fight at this time – it’s for everyone still standing and for those that will continue to stand.

The chance for a rare glimpse behind the scenes with the Singing Waiters as we travelled to New Plymouth for the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards
It was an outstanding night with over 450 guests who had no idea three waiters working the event were planted actors and entertainers. Fair to say there were a few ‘questions’ about some of the work ethic and behaviour as the night went on… after of course being greeted early on by the uber enthusiastic waiter in the entrance foyer…
Eventually all was revealed after a jaw dropping sequence as the waiters became the band, doing all the classics that filled the dance floor with guests demanding several encores as they didn’t want to go home. Thanks’ so much for having us Taranaki Chamber of Commerce – we loved it.

John and his team made for a fantastic night, I had nothing but positive comments from all who attended our dinner and were “served” by the Singing Waiters. John and his team were able to shape their mode of operation to suit our needs and adapt to small changes made prior to the event and during the evening. They were witty , understood their audience and had many confused as to whether they were indeed actually waiters who can sing a bit or just some poorly trained waiter trying to make a living. I hope at some stage we can use them again

We wanted to add something really special to National Primary Sector Conference gala night, and enthuse’s Singing waiters certainly delivered. In fact, they exceeded our expectations providing a fantastic night of humour, comedy and real entertainment for the dance floor, once they revealed themselves as the ‘stand in’ band. They were so engaging and ‘realistic’ as they played their waiters roles, each with quite distinct personalities that really made the evening and had everyone wondering about the ‘special’ waiters working. Once they took to the stage the reveal was fabulous and then they provided a great variety of all the best classic songs to enjoy and dance to, which got everyone up on the dance floor - we didn’t want to stop. The Singing waiters ability to provide full night of entertainment that covers improvisation and acting and then a band is fantastic. We had great feedback and can’t wait to use enthuse again in the future.

We had John and his team provide ‘outstanding’ entertainment for a Triple 70th Celebration in Hamilton – wow I can’t explain how fantastic the entire experience was, from the initial contact with John where we discussed the many options he can offer, to the concise organisaiton and communication of how the event would run. John made three magnificence wardrobe changes throughout the evening, from crazy paparazzi on red carpet, to professional MC in a black dinner suit and into an outrageous Rocky Horror number. This had our guests questioning all night who he was and still many guests didn’t know it was the same person. The singing waiters were also fantastic and totally had our guests fooled, but so entertaining. Stories of the evening are still being discussed and many laughs still had. I would certainly recommend John and his enthuse company.
