What a pleasure it’s been to have had the Ngaio Marsh Theatre as the hosting venue of the first live show by Kelvin Cruickshank NZ Medium, as part of his “The Language of Spirit” tour. With a sold-out ticketed event, last night was an evening of profound connections and spiritual insights as guests witnessed first-hand the power of mediumship as Kelvin delivered messages filled with love, healing and validation from the other side.

Introducing Haere-roa’s outside area, called the Amphitheatre. With a few fixed picnic tables, a semi-circular outdoor auditorium and a BBQ area, this space is ideal for BBQ’s during the summer or as a break area during conferences booked at Haere-roa.
The Amphitheatre is the annual host venue of the University of Canterbury’s annual bridge building competition, various music concerts during Orientation Week, and has ample space to compliment events booked at Haere-roa with food trucks, lawn games, bouncy castles, and animal farms.

Haere-roa is the new home of the University of Canterbury Students’ Association (UCSA), and one of Christchurch’s most exciting new event venues.
Located on Ilam Road, the building boasts state-of-the-art spaces for conferences and functions, including the iconic Ngaio Marsh Theatre and popular bars The Foundry and Bentley's. Meeting and event spaces are open to short-term and long-term community bookings during university breaks, and the public will be welcomed to performances at Ngaio Marsh.
Haere-roa is the culmination of two years’ of construction work, which began after the Christchurch earthquakes damaged the original UCSA building beyond repair.
From July 2019, Haere-roa is your destination for events.
Production and AV
The Ngaio Marsh Theatre has been designed for excellent acoustic performance, where spoken word on stage can be heard clearly from any seat. The space is also excellent for amplified sound thanks to our world-class d&b audiotechnik sound system, which is perfect for any act you can dream up, from electronic beats to musical theatre or classical music.
