In the words of celebrant and writer Halliwell: Just to prove that celebrants will go to the ends of the earth for a get-together, attached is a picture of Cromwell celebrant, Glennys Logan (right), and me (Sue Halliwell from Whangarei, left) on a recent small ship cruise to Antarctica. Glennys and I had never met before the cruise and we were the only Kiwi women on a multi-national passenger list of 120. Across the ice, around the penguins, amongst pods of great whales and aboard ship, we took ‘connect local’ to a new level, talking all things celebrant and creating a firm personal and professional bond.”

Our very last day in Buenos Aires…. Highly recommend this beautiful city!

This morning at 6am we arrived at Elephant Island. This was where Shackleton and his men arrived in their 3 life boats after leaving the ice. Shackleton left his men here on that rock you see (he went back to sea in the James Caird for help)for 4 months before they were finally rescued!
We couldn’t land anywhere today as a storm was raging so now we are at sea heading overnight for the Antarctica Peninsula! It is getting colder!!!!

Unbelievable! Best day almost ever! We went ashore at St Andrews Bay and the wildlife was incredible- I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming! Over 150,000 breeding pairs of King Penguins and the Elephant Seals were ginormous!

Grytviken whaling station - South Georgia today…. So much history here….
