Really glad I had found time to harvest yesterday , for petals will be damaged from the rain😢

Well this week definitely feels like the change in the seasons is real. Heavy frosts just 15 minutes up the road and a low of 2.4 here definitely makes me aware the season of abundance is coming to a close.

I wonder how many of you will come on a journey through the new season with me? Mourning the loss of the summer colours but embracing the changes in the colours autumn always brings.

In a world where it has been made to feel normal to have what ever we want in any season, especially with food and flowers it is wonderful to break out of that norm. It makes for a higher sense of gratitude for what we have.

I always think about this in terms of tomatoes. The joy of the first fresh tomato is just magical, but the magic is in knowing it’s coming, how good it’s going to be. And not in dulling down our taste buds but buying out of season imported ones in the middle of winter!
So enjoy my floral creations down at Dandelion and Clover or I can make something bespoke for you. And yes I did grow a tomato that big!

While the rain has been so appreciated, the dull days definitely are tough after the feel of the sun on Sunday.
But one sure way to cheer up is to surround yourself in flowers!

Isn’t the rain just blissful! Feels like all plants are just taking a big breath of relief. The forecast at stages had some really damaging (for flowers ) rain predicted so I did a very big pick before it hit.
Hate to see them go to waste so making up some very beautiful bunches and Bunches for Good are back today!
So that means buy one $25 and guarantee me you will gift the other to someone to bring cheer to someone else and it is yours.

Flowers safely from the chiller to the air conditioned space down at Dandelion and Clover . This heat can be killer of blooms. In my own personal garden the roses which I was delighted in Friday night were blown messes when I glanced their way yesterday! Another job of de heading added to the huge autumn list. So always try to keep your blooms in the cooler part of your house with no direct sun on them. Change the water every day and you will be surprised how long they last.
Chose heat loving blooms like sunflowers to stock the stand with. But I just can’t help picking all the pink pretties as well!
And a bunch of aster for $5 has to be a steal!

The 1st day of autumn is feeling very much like the hottest day of summer! It sure is making the flowers bloom. It’s also the sort of day I feel blessed to have a chiller so all blooms picked before the heat of the day have a wonderful environment to fully hydrate in.
So will have fresh bouquets at Dandelion and Clover by mid morning for your enjoyment. And since I have so many asters there will be buckets for you to pick your own from.
And of course I can deliver between Darfield and West Melton on my way down.

I always feel lucky when a friend lets me wander her garden for foliage. Thanks Sue. It is so nice to have different foliage to play with for it makes me think of different colour combinations and also adds space so I can make even bigger bouquets!
Just loving the new asters which are popping open, beautiful pastel hues. the apricot is just delightful.
Still indulging my dahlia addiction and the deep red just seems to last for ages if I condition it well, which of course I do!

Flower stand was going to be fully stocked, however people were getting them straight out of my crate again! But don’t be put off for there is still many pretties to chose from.
I added a couple of bunches of Billy buttons and statice which will dry perfectly and give months and months of joy.
So pop down to Dandelion and Clover for a coffee and your flower fix.

If someone had told me a year ago I would be doing wedding florals I would have laughed for I was just starting out in getting my level 3 cert in floristry.
Well a year on I have been the floral designer for three wedding and the assistant florist at another.
It has been very much “ feel the fear and do it anyway” . For flowers play such an important part of a wedding. They can set the feel and atmosphere for the whole day.
I also know what I offer is totally unique. I grow my flowers to organic standards to the season and there will be no single use plastics used.
And coming from a background in event management ( way back when!) it means I understand the timelines and stresses of putting on an wedding and know how to create under that pressure.

I realise I often show you the finished product, but it’s been awhile since I have given you a glimpse of my flowers beds!

There is just so much in there at the moment. Asters, Zinnias and dahilia galore. But so many treasures that don’t make sense on a huge commercial scale to grow but do for the beauty of them In my patch.
But of course if I don’t keep harvesting they don’t keep growing and seems a waste to just dehead them. So who wants a bucket of flowers? Either come pick your own on Wednesday evening or let me know and I will pick them for you. $25 for a bucket.

Also have a look at the last photo. This is what organically rich soil looks like! It’s just about black. That is 10 years worth of love and knowledge. That bed would be close to a foot higher than the path! Growing soil is what I do and the beauty of the flowers shows this.

Thank you for all the support over Valentines Day, such a privilege to provide flowers. You totally emptied the stand at Dandelion and Clover ! On Friday I was trying to fill it up and the bouquets were selling straight from my crate!
Yesterday I gifted myself a day in the hills, but back into it today. So stand has some lovely bouquets. Even one of my favourite flower is being shared the beautiful pineapple Lilly.

A couple of weeks ago nature gave me just the cutest little sign of love. A billy button in the shape of a perfect heart. I dried it and wondered when I would use it.
I was doing a very special valentines order today and I thought it would just add that very special touch.
Flowers grown with love! Bouquets designed with love so others can gift with love!

The flower stand just looks beautiful today. So many beautiful roses are in bloom at mine and I admit Mums! And the best bit about the heritage roses are they were bred for smell as well as looks!

So if you are looking to bring happiness to your house, flowers are the perfect way!

Thought it was a perfect day to take you on a tour of the garden. Garden has grown so big I need to do a few videos or else I can’t upload them, or is that just poor broadband? So enjoy.

Time to introduce the gardening crew. New to this years crew is Trixie. She loves her greens, can be seen here munching on some cabbage. Always amazed that loads of people don’t realise dogs thrive on adding veggies to their diet. She has some knowledge to gain. The other day I was wondering what has decimated a broccoli head, she helped out with identification of pest by starting to eat the other half!
