Friday the 3rd of May, was our last wedding for the 2023-2024 season. Thank you so much to Michaela and Marshall for choosing us to be part of your special day, and what a wonderful day it was!

Huge thank you to our bbcatering crew; without you, we would not be able to provide our homestyle service with a "nothing's a problem" attitude.

Heartfelt thanks also needs to go to those who work with us, alongside us, and recommend us to their customers.
The many venues we have had the privilege to work in— Lochend Woolshed Grandview Gardens Outram, Toitu Museum, Corstorphine House, Wingatui Racecourse, Otago University Rugby Football Club, Olveston, Tautuku Fishing Club, and also Leah & Zara and their team from Encore Events— it's a pleasure to have worked beside you all over the season, we are looking forward to a busy 2024-2025 season working with you all again.

Finally, we are extremely thankful to all our wonderful couples who put their trust in bbcatering to provide delicious food and professional service to you and your guests. Although we typically keep a low profile, today we take a moment to celebrate our achievements (ie: Pat ourselves on the back 😊)

a massive weekend in the middle of our down time but wow!! what a day Saturday was. Nearly 660 (2 services for 250 and 160 dinner) people enjoyed our delicious foods and genuine southern hospitality. Huge thanks to Mike and Cherie from Otago University Rugby Football Club, trusting us again to come in and help host their guests ... to Victoria, Mike and Stana from The All Black Experience also thanks again for having us back .... it's always a happy, fun time working with this team and our guests enjoy the banter ... or as one said "best food and service throughout NZ". Thanks also to Christina, Nicky and Bee from NZRFU for trusting us with a very special last game dinner for the lads and their families "food was next level" ... felt so short walking around there. Rachel from Tūhura, thank you also and your team it's been awhile but nice to work together again. Finally huge thank you to our team, without you working with us tirelessly with a huge smiles for our guests we couldn't take these events on ..... Nga mihi nunui

so last weekend we had the pleasure of catering to Linda & Phillips wedding at the Shiel Hill Venue (old Shiel Hill Tavern). With covid being a pain in the a #, family were unable to travel from overseas and made for a smaller wedding than it would of been but what a fantastic day it was. Having waited and postponed dates they finally gathered their nearest and dearest and celebrated with their 2 children for their official union. Canapes of venison pies, pork & shrimp shaomai, mini chicken burgers started their reception then we tailored a menu to accommodate the smaller numbers and provided Chef Gordon's delicious glazed ham off the bone, cold roast chicken pieces, broccoli salads and more finished off their main course. What a great venue, but sorry no photos once guests arrived I didn't have time to take my phone out

WOW!! What a big weekend we just had pushing through some big hours over Waitangi Weekend. A wedding on Friday & Saturday and both with bar services so some later than usual finishes
.... yes we can offer a beverage service for your event - from start to finish we work with our Dunedin local Liquorland - Cableways to provide our guests with their requests for beverages for the day, organise delivery and pick up the next day, glassware , bar staff and with our Caterer’s Liquor License we can bring this service to you at your chosen venue (management fee and charges apply) .... make it easy on yourself, let us do it all for you!!
Friday seen us up at the elegant Corstorphine House helping Kathryn, James and their families and friends celebrate their perfect day and it was just that! Kathryn had it all planned to the final wee detail which is fantastic to work with – no guess work!! They provided their own nibbles and dessert and bbcatering made sure they had plenty on their buffet choose from ..... huge comments about Chef’s Vegan curry – guests smashed it and with meats and salads to boot they have a great range of delicious foods to choose from. Kathryn ensured her guests had something to do with oversized games scattered around the lawns ... chess, jenga, snakes & ladders fun was had by all!!

Then on Saturday we went to the beautiful Lochend Woolshed to help Erin and Josh celebrate their post Covid wedding .... yes married during covid levels meant they and their guests were together the whole time to celebrate their union. It was nice to see whanau come down for Gisborne and Hastings to join them. Main course service only ensured there was plenty to food to go around ... not surprisingly Chef’s glazed ham off the bone was mentioned in quite a few speeches.

Wow, it feels like this year is flying by already I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of another week!
So last weekend we had the pleasure of catering to 2 couples Nicole & Chris who celebrated at Dunedin’s newest Wedding & Event Venue - Lochend Woolshed Our first time catering at this venue but not the first time I have visited Julz and Mark. Wow, what an amazing transformation … from the pigs still in the sty INSIDE the double bricked barn to these amazing rooms and gorgeous surrounds for our couple to enjoy – they definitely had a vision back then! Ceremony on the lawn, lounging on the deck while enjoying the amazing view over the lagoon to beautiful crafted wooden dinner tables, old school chairs and OMG (any event organizer/caterer will understand what I mean here) the wine barrel cake stand is on castors … no carrying the 3 tier cake past guests praying you make it to the kitchen … just push the barrel in. Nicole you looked absolutely stunning, the burgundy of your bridesmaids and pop of purple in your hair, bouquets and around the venue really complimented everything. Chris and your boys all looked very dashing, what a beautiful family you all make … thanks to Mum and Dad also for their input. Thank you for Leah Encore Events, as always events organized in an efficient, happy and professional manner - love working with you

Next we went to the uniquely beautiful Orokonui Ecosanctuary to cater to Rachael and Jay’s special day with a 3 course menu. We had a few extra special diet requests from Rachael and Jay’s guests and I must say we handled them all like champs … majority of diets were catered for within the main buffet menu and those stricter diets we prepared individual meals for them … we are pleased everyone enjoyed the effort Rachael and Jay went too to accommodate their guests requests …. the perfect hosts. Canapes on the deck overlooking the Sancutary, then main course buffet and dessert in the venue, this venue always surprises me with a different table layout nearly everything we have been up there lately it’s so nice to see how other people can view the area and make it work for them.
We wish both our couples all the best for the future … a very unusual weekend off this week end but then back into it again first thing next week with a 120pax conference and 2 more beautiful weddings

Last weekend was our first wedding for 2021, a wee bit later than normal for us to start back but after last year we all decided we needed a bit of a break
So anyway all refreshed and ready to go, we were very pleased to have been able to help Lauren, Kade, their families and friends celebrate their special day. What a beautiful day it was and such a beautiful setting.
Beautifully manicured lawns at Wal's Plant and Fun Land ensured for the perfect setting for this marquee wedding, of course gorgeous sunflower centre pieces and bouquets from the amazing Wals florist and simple natural table decorations and the favours just tied everything together. Working with Lauren and Mum Linda to organize this day was such a breeze and I am thankful to them for putting their faith in bbcatering to manage this special day
Kade and his boys arrived at the ceremony on the “train” and Lauren and her girls came to the ceremony on a tractor drawn trailer with hay bales. The ceremony as amazing, loving and fun with very special vowels from each …. Brown Brothers Prosecco with prawns, scallops, chicken satay skewers and venison pies seen the guest happy at canapé time. Then over to the marquee for the reception, all the guests arrived via “train”, speeches were hilarious, then followed the main course buffet to fill everyone’s bellies – slow roasted beef, glazed ham on the bone, broccoli salad, waldorf salad to name a couple dishes, then it was dance time, and dance they did …. That dance floor had feet all over it aaaaalllll night!! For dessert we had crème brulee, banoffee pies, passionfruit cheesecake served on a magnificent macrocarpa table made by the brides dad
Happyhire Otago provided a gorgeous silk lined marquee (and lots of extras as needed), Hirepool Ltd on hand to help keep the guests (and staff) shaded on a very hot day and also amenities, Cableways Tavern made sure everyone was nicely hydrated, Visual Effects provided an elegant skirting for the head table and Gravity Events ensured the band (Cameron Scott) were perched up on staging for everyone to enjoy
Was a great start to our 2021, looking forward to helping Rachael & Jay and Nicole & Chris celebrate their special days this weekend

.......a little bit about us....
we are bbcatering since 2010 and cater many weddings and events throughout each year and our special glazed hams have become part of our signature and famous locally......many locals request to purchase them for special 'at home' occasions, especially at Christmas time!....so for this year we have decided to promote them outside of Dunedin by using our distribution network set up for our nationwide delivery of frozen meal packs which has turned into 50% of our total business at bbcatering.
