β¨ Not quite a new me, but hey! While you're here let's watch another voice-over vlog... It helps keep me to stay relevant and 'in' with the latest trends! π
There are also some changes happening here at Sweet Revelations and if you want to be in know, follow, like and share my page so you don't miss out! Thank you! Fakaaue lahi.π₯³
And while there is no cake or baking in this video, it does highlight an important message about juggling family and a small business, and how that works for me and my family.
If you're new here, welcome! And for my loyal supporters and 'far-away-admirers' you already know that I am not only a small business owner/baker/caterer; I am also a Mum, a wife and always dedicated to being the best I can be for my family.
Life is short and our kids are growing, expanding their own life experiences and we are totally here for the ride; guiding and advising them on how to be good humans. #lifegoals
So, shout out to my kids for posing for the one photo on this dayπ₯΄ and for always giving my husband and I purpose and motivation to keep going with this life 24/7, 365 days. This post is dedicated to you, kids! π

β¨ IMO the most stressful part of preparing and making your cake is-
the delivery. π
That's why I have ensured that being prepared for any mishaps helps to alleviate the stress when it comes to cake set-up and presentation once we arrive at the venue for your event.
I have a container filled with all the things I need (and possibly don't need) for those trouble shoot moments that may occur. I even bring spare candles! π
My experience in packing and preparing for events is something that stems largely from being a mum and having to bring along bits of this and that, to ensure everyone has what they need, want and must have, but don't even use it.π₯΄
This first voice-over reel introduces you to the sweet sound of my voice, as well as this kit that I bring along to all my events to make sure your cake looks fabulous!
βBut my 'kit' needs a name! So if you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know in the comment section. I'm thinking something along the lines of a cake repair kit or cake repair vendor kit? Help me out and let me know. Do you have your own version of a 'repair kit'? π

β¨ I had to ask my kids what NGL meant when I came across it on a FB meme... Let's just say I was surprised and my mind- blown!π€―
And yes, I'm a Millennial and that acronym was not what I originally thought it meant.
What did you think it was? I'll tell you my thoughts if you tell me yours? π
And if you missed it, NGL is short for not gonna lie, or not gone lie.π New ones that I've come across are gtg, ikr and ttyl.
I have a few days left of collecting your Mother's Day orders. Closing it off this Thursday. Thank you so much for your orders. It's going to be a busy weekend at our house, and I'm anticipating the day my family has planned for my Mother's Day.π₯° @kalanimalaesiliaπ₯³
If you want to know more about my journey as a small business owner, or find out what I get up to on my Mother's Day, follow and stay tuned for more!
πI own a Micro-bakery and Catering business called Sweet Revelations, operating out of my registered home kitchen. I specialise in Pacific Island cuisine, Vegan Cakes and Artisan Bakes, local to Dunedin, New Zealand.π
β¨ Shout out to the South Dunedin Community for another great night market!
βDid you stop by my stall on Saturday? Did you try the coconut buns or chocolate brownies? What were your favourite treats?
This was our second time attending the Gasworks Museum Market, and it was fun and enjoyed by all who came by. It was great to see a few familiar faces and always a pleasure to meet new people.
I had debuted my Mother's Day sugar cookies, which were a hit! As I mentioned to some who visited my stall, they were hand-crafted by yours truly (me), using an embosser tool I bought from a NZ business called @littlemonkey_nz.
These embossers have such an amazing effect on fondant and the technique- took some patience, but it all paid off for a beautiful design.
Thank you so much to the organisers of this market. Sweet Revelations will be back after the winter season and I look forward to sharing more treats with you all again. @dunedingasworksmuseum
βJust another reminder, my Mother's Day Pre-order menu is still available, closing off this Thursday. Mother's Day is Sunday May the 12th. Have you sorted anything for your Mum yet?

β¨ I thought I had it all figured out when I first started my small business.
Yet, I realised that I still had a bit of work to do and kinda missed a few things that really hurt my business. More about this below.β¬οΈ
πMother's Day is fast approaching, May the 12th. I will have my menu for pre-order available soon. Bento boxes, dessert boxes, single tier cakes, and savoury options to spoil all our Mummas on this special day.
So, here are the 3 things I wish I knew about opening my small business earlier:
1. Marketing. Posting pretty photos with a caption or even just hashtags, didn't really work. I realised I had to tell people what I do, what I offer and where I'm located. How are my customers and the target market supposed to know I even exist?
2. Niche. I figured out that finding a niche and double downing on it doesn't necessarily mean I can't sell other products. I just had to make sure I can manage all the other products I sell, ensuring they align with my overall theme and values as a business.
3. Support. Not everyone will appreciate you and stand in your corner, including family and friends. I have complete strangers shouting my name from the rooftops! π€― THIS was mind blowing to me. I have the most loyal customers returning for more treats and it's an amazing feeling that I am creating a community that enjoys my food. I truly am grateful for the support I've had since starting.π₯°
I have more things to share about my small business journey. These are just some of the most important ones that helped my business. COMMENT below if you have any tips to share.
I own a micro-bakery and recently branched out into catering, operating from my registered home kitchen, located in Dunedin, New Zealand.

FOLLOW and SHARE if this was interesting to you or perhaps you have a friend or family member who is just starting out too.
