Poor Winnie Wannabe. She tries so hard, but no one seems to notice.

Her chief obstacle to appreciation is her own mother! Ima Wannabe is the Iron Lady of the BAFTAs (Break a leg Academy For Talented Amazing superstars). She is a woman with a withering gaze and harsh high standards which fall hardest on her daughter; oft cast, seldom praised.

Accompanying Ima in tormenting Winnie is BAFTA's very own supreme tryhard: Harlow Hardy. Harlow is convinced of her own immutably superior talent, and is not afraid to let others know: cruelly rubbing her success in Winnie's face.

Will Winnie overcome these obsticles? Or will she remain within her cycle of feeling unloved, unappreciated, and unwanted within the BAFTAs?

MEET THE CAST OF Break-a-Leg by Judi Billcliff a Globe Youth Production

I’m Jasmine McPherson and I play the role of Cassidy in Break ‘a’ Leg.
I’ve always loved acting and I started in some after-school classes almost 11 years ago. From there, I picked up acting classes at interACT when I turned nine, and musical theatre classes at Denise Henderson’s studio when I was eleven, both of which I’m still involved with today. I also take drama as a subject in school along with dance and music. Aside from classes, I’ve been involved in multiple musicals and plays both in and outside of school.
My favourite part of being involved in Break ‘a’ Leg so far has been getting to know some amazing new people who all enjoy acting like I do.

I’m John Lindley and I play the roles of Simon Cal and Peter Piper in Break a Leg. I started theatre when I was 14 with a school production of Cats the musical and a community theatre production of Phantom of the Opera, and have continued doing musicals every year since. I’m very excited to be a part of this show as it’s my first performance with the Globe Theatre and it’s quite different from the shows I've done in the past, and it’s been a lot of fun. The best part about doing this production for me has been getting to work with the cast and crew, as most of them are fresh faces, so it’s been good to meet them all 🙂

Kia Ora, I’m Connor Broadhead and I’m playing Joey Wannabe!

I’ve been acting since highschool with my classic character… Adding Machine Clerk and from then my path in life was paved. I’ve since played some interesting characters such as Justice Wargrave in And Then There Were None and Pike in Lovelock’s Dream Run.

I’m super excited for everyone to see this production of Break-a-Leg and what we have been cooking up as well as the stern fatherly Joey I’ve been working on.

Today we say hi to Jake.

My name is Jake Harris and I'm playing Grayson Golightly in the show Break ‘A’ Leg. I have been an actor for a very long time, since primary school and have been in shows yearly since. I've been in many shows, such as the Peter Pan Pantomime at the Globe last year and many more at my schools. I was in the Peter Pan Pantomime with Harry, the director of Break a Leg, and was told about this role, so I thought I might give it a shot. My favourite scene would have to be the western scene I am a part of because I love westerns.

I’m Rosie Mitchell and I’m playing Marigold Mason. I started acting when I was 11, my first show was Santa’s Last Stand at the Fire Station Theatre in 2020. Since then I’ve acted in many other productions such as Alice in Wonderland and the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. This is my first time at the globe and I am super excited to perform and show the audience what we have been working on.

I am Hannah Fenemor and I am playing Mrs Hardy and Delia Delany
I began theatre after performing in my first Gangshow in 2021. I have continued to play in Gangshow’s every second year when it happens. I have been in limited shows, and helped backstage with makeup in Columba College’s Mamma Mia! I am currently doing an improvisation course for schools. I have done speech and drama for 3 years, including this year. I wanted to be a part of Break-A-Leg as my drama teacher recommended doing it and I saw it as a fun experience and an opportunity to build on my drama skills. My favourite part of being in this production is watching it grow into a wonderful show, while also having fun backstage with cast mates.

I’m Freja Thatcher and I play the role of Talulah in Break ‘a’ leg . I've loved acting for as long as I can remember and started classes The Drama Workshop in Hawke’s Bay. I performed in Alice in Wonderland at age 8 and Through The Looking Glass at age 9. Since moving to Dunedin I've enjoyed interAct classes and participating in school shows. This is my first performance with the Globe Theatre and I'm super excited to be a part of Break a Leg. My character Talulah has a lively outgoing personality which makes playing her very fun and different from characters I’ve played previously. The best thing about working on this show has been getting to know the wonderful cast and I can't wait to show you all what we've developed together.

My name is Elizabeth and I play Veronica Vesper in Break A Leg. I started in theatre in school as soon as it was offered as a subject, but I have only been in shows/productions through school. I was excited to sign up for this show to give me more experience acting outside of school, as well as being able to meet people who love performing as much as I do. If I had to pick one thing, I would say my favourite thing about this production has been the opportunity to devise scenes based on what we are interested in

Introducing Ariel, cast member of Break-a-Leg by Judi Billcliff a Globe Youth Production.

I'm Ariel Holloway, and I'm playing I'ma Wannabe.

I started out playing Pumba in my school production. Ever since I've enjoyed being in many different acting productions, such as The Wizard of Oz, The London Operation, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and more.

I was excited at the prospect of being a part of a Globe Youth production and thought the concept of the show sounded interesting. My favourite parts of the show are the award presentations.

Introducing Echo, a cast member in Break-a-Leg by Judi Billcliff a Globe Youth Production

I’m Echo Beres, and I’m playing the role of Harlow in Break a Leg.

I started Interact acting classes when I was five. I've always been interested in acting and theatre. The first main stage production I did was at the Playhouse Theatre when I was eight. I am still involved in the Playhouse today.

The first show I did at the Globe was when I was 12 in Aladdin. Since then I've acted in Peter Pan, been a stagehand in Artist Descending a Staircase, and am now in Break a Leg.

I love playing the role of Harlow, she is very mischievous, and is the character we love to hate. The main challenge with playing Harlow is being mean to a character whose actor I’m good friends with. But it's all acting, and there are of course no hard feelings between us.

I’m excited to show all of our hard work off, and hope that it brings others as much joy as it has brought me.

I'm April Kerr, and I'm playing the role of Winsome (Winnie) Wannabe in Break a Leg. I've always loved acting, and I first started interACT when I was 10. I performed in multiple plays at the Firestation Theatre, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (2019), and Santa's Last Stand (2020). Furthermore, I first performed at the Globe Theatre in 2022 when I starred in Dory and the Banished Cellphone Adventure. Since then, I've played Little Joan in Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood, Brown Owl in Peter Pan, and now, Winnie in Break a Leg. I really enjoy playing the role of Winnie because it's something very different for me, as Winnie is very timid and mousey whereas most of my previous roles have been more confident, so it's nice to try something new. I can't wait to show everyone what we've put together as a whole cast!
