So what is Alice in Wonderland: A Pantomime like? 🎩🌸⭐

Well, the story follows a pretty similar plot to the original 1860s classics by Lewis Carroll but with a few twists.

Pantomimes have a rich history in western theatre, celebrating larger than life acting, slapstick and comedy. But a satisfying pantomime must hold all of its larger-than-life material together with a good plot. A good way to do this? More rabbits!!

Alice in Wonderland: A Pantomime has no shortage of rabbits; funny rabbits, naughty rabbits and even the wrong rabbits 🐰🐰🐰. They dig holes in the plot and make way for Harry, Alice’s very own love interest! (Don’t say you didn’t want a love interest for her!!) ❤️

The wackiness, the whimsy, the wonderful illustrations of the original story inspired Ben Crocker to create a fresh take on it, embracing the unusualness of the original.⏰

And did we mention – new music by local Dunedin artists to accompany the show?

The rumours for the inspiration of Alice and her adventures have swirled for decades. You heard it here, there was some “reality” in all of it – well at least to poor Lewis Carroll, there was some 🎩 reality 🎩.
