Globe Theatre Dunedin

Globe Theatre Dunedin Dunedin's theatre-in-a-house, established in 1961, by Patric and Rosalie Carey, at 104 London St.

Founded by Patric and Rosalie Carey when they extended the living room of their house in London Street into an auditorium, converting it into a small, 30 seat theatre which they called The Globe. We are now a 70 seat theater putting on an eclectic mix of new and old, new Zealand and foreign plays for your viewing pleasure.

Like a raging colossus D. H. Lawerence came crashing into 20th Century literature and it was never the same again. Playing in a Lawrence work is a unique chance to discover why.

We’re especially keen to see a diverse range of actors, including and especially female-presenting actors who may be older but could convincingly play a historical character in her 30s. Complete information and application form can be found on our website.

Our friends The Playhouse Theatre are hosting special fundraiser screening and Q&A - at Rialto Cinemas, Dunedin at 6.30pm on 19 October - to support the theatre's refurbishment. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Robert along with Pike family members Sonya Rockhouse and Anna Osborne.

▪️Earlier that day, Robert Sarkies will deliver a presentation on the Playhouse stage. He'll share how he and his team brought the Pike River film to life, honouring the real people at the heart of the story. He'll offer a rare look at the process used to craft a film based on a true story with integrity, courage and deep emotional truth.
Tickets for both events are available now at www.theatretickets.co.nz/shows/playhouse

Join us at Rialto Cinemas Dunedin this October for a special preview screening of PIKE RIVER, the highly anticipated film from Dunedin director - and Playhouse Theatre alum - Robert Sarkies.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Robert and Pike River family members Sonya Rockhouse and Anna Osborne.

After the 2010 Pike River Mine explosion claims the lives of 29 men, Sonya Rockhouse and Anna Osborne refuse to stay silent, and become an unstoppable force in a battle of people vs power. Three-time Emmy nominee Melanie Lynskey and acclaimed Kiwi actress Robyn Malcolm lead this powerful true story of courage, friendship and the fight for justice.

Thanks to the support of Film Dunedin, Rialto Cinemas and Madman Entertainment, 100% of ticket sales for this event will go to support the refurbishment of the Playhouse, in honour of Robert's personal connection to the theatre. ❤

Tickets are available now at www.theatretickets.co.nz/shows/playhouse
