Check out this custom order I made for the team at Thyme Square last month.

I got creative license on this one and it was such a pleasure to create! It ended up being a whopping 85cm high!

Have you guys been to Thyme Square for lunch or dinner? You should definitely go, you won't be disappointed. Their food is delicious and the service is🤌 and the atmosphere is gorgeous. Get yourself there asap if you haven't already.

I wouldn't blame you if you thought I had fallen off the face of the earth 😬 so I will keep this short and sweet.

These last few months I've not only endured some less than satisfactory health issues. We've also had some massive changes going on in our whanau and whare. Some losses, some gains and while I was dealing with all of that I was quietly working away on a plethora of custom orders. One of which is the biggest wedding I've done in my 20+ year flaxing career. I can't wait to share photos of that with you all.

The website is looking a little bare but I will be getting on to stocking ready made items asap....and I will also do a wee sale for you all as a little thank you for being so awesome

FINALLY ITS HERE!!!!! WE HAVE Afterpay NZ!!!!!!!!

And while I've been recovering these last few weeks, I've also had some time to sort out the categories on the website, hoping this will make things easier to find. HAAAALP!! I'm having the sads so bad right now :( Our weather has been awful and the recovery from my op 2 weeks ago is taking a long freakin' time! My ability to move has been some what limited, I can't walk far, definitely can't walk the dog (can't even cuddle her), can't drive or travel in a car, can't lift weights and I've run out of chocolate 😭 I am on light duties for one more week before I'm allowed to go back to normal activity.

For those that know me, I don't do well being slowed down, and I hate asking for help....but....

Please cheer me up, funny memes, fur baby pictures, a funny story, something pretty you took a photo of recently, anything, come at me my lovelies, help me get through another week of feeling so uggghhhhh.

UPDATE from Artiflax HQ

Monday's surgery went well and I was home by 4.30pm. I had something to eat then had a big nap because I was exhausted from not having slept much the night before.

At 10pm Monday night I started experiencing sever pain which came on suddenly and kept increasing with a large amount of sudden swelling at the operation site. I was in ED by 10.30pm and admitted by 1am Tuesday morning.

I underwent a second surgery Tuesday morning to drain what they told me, was a hematoma. I've been home since 5.30pm Tuesday night, I'm covered in bruises from the various IV lines and attempted IV line insertions and from multiple blood tests over those two days. My chest is covered in bruising and literally every muscle in my body is aching.

While this was not the most pleasant experience I've had, I am so grateful for the kindness the nurses, Drs, orderly's and drivers showed me while I was at Waikato Hospital.

For those that placed orders this week, Esther from Esthers Flowers is coming in on Monday to dispatch all orders for me as I can't move around too much, I had hoped to be able to do even a little bit but my body just isn't up for it right now.

If you need me for anything please email me or send me a message, I'll be attacking the admin jobs tomorrow.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the wonderful Mum's, step Mum's, adoptive Mum's, Mother in laws, fur baby Mumma's, Aunties, Grandma's and Dad's filling in Mum roles....we at Artiflax HQ hope you were loved and appreciated today ❤️

Today, I got the chance to spend my Mother's Day with my Mum and my children. We had high tea at home, giggled at silly stories, and enjoyed each other's company 💜 It was exactly what I needed to fill my very empty cup 😊

Tomorrow, I'm off to hospital for surgery to have an unknown mass removed...I've tried not to let my nerves get the better of me but as the time draws closer I get more and more nervous. Over the next 10 days while I recover, I won't be able to make any urgent custom orders. All items on the website are premade and will be packed and dispatched by my wonderful tribe of friends and whanau, who will be on hand to help me keep on top of things both workwise and homewise. I will clear emails and quotes on a daily basis but have to limit my work time to only a few hours a day while I recover.

I was commissioned to make 9 flax poppy wreaths for the Western Bay of Plenty District Council's wreath laying services at various different sites around the BOP.

It was such an honour to be asked to create these memorable beauties for such an important occasion. A lot of aroha and mahi went into making these and I am so pleased with how they turned out.

Well hello there!!! Long time no see!

I've been MIA across all of my socials for most of this year 😬 with lots on the go, not just with mahi, but with family life and a few health issues that caught me off guard, and now I've been struck down with the darn flu!!!

This year I've been missioning on with custom and web orders, making sure I get them out of the way as fast as possible, juggling family stuffs and trying to get my health back on track, so if you've been wondering why the website was looking a little empty, the above would be why, perhaps I should join the circus with all these spinning plates? 🫣

This week I will be working on more website products to list (while I die quietly of what I think is man flu! lol), getting some Mother's Day colab goodies sorted, getting Afterpay NZ (finally!) for the website.....and making sure I've replied to everyone's emails/enquiries and quotes!

Just a quick reminder that I will be at Meatstock Hamilton all weekend working for my mates at Wild West Worcester ...instead of resting this afternoon (because I've worked 8 days straight working 10 to 12hr a day) I snacked on cheese, crackers and WWW Sweet Beetroot Relish, then decided these awesome products needed a photoshoot 🤣 it was a lot of fun and my girl child had fun making the fire for me!

Kia ora every one!!! Thanks for sticking with me lately. Over the last 6 weeks or so I've been super busy behind the scenes, I've been trying to juggle the kids, extended family commitments, the hefty mahi load leading up to Matariki, school holidays and, being sick on top of all of that. I'm creating my Matariki stars for the 2 commissioned arrangements....they went well here but didn't quite work when I needed to put them in the arrangements, they needed modifying to work properly 😀 Trial and error is part and parcel of being an artist 😚 www.artiflax.co.nz
