A special Garden of Eden, where tea grows naturally, free from chemical sprays or fertilisers. Pure air, sunshine, water and the most fertile soil give Zealong a remarkable freshness in flavour and fragrance that excites even the most jaded tea drinker. Grown as nature intended, Zealong's hand-picked leaves are thicker and have more flavour, allowing up to six or seven infusions from one serving.

While we leave things to nature, we leave nothing to chance. Zealong Tea is fully certified to the world's highest food safety standard: ISO 22000 HACCP. We also have accreditations under USDA and BioGro, meaning we know exactly what's in our tea — right down to the row it was picked from.

We were truly honoured to join Malaysia’s 2025 National Day celebrations and extend our sincere thanks to Her Excellency Ms. Mazita Marzuki, Malaysian High Commissioner to New Zealand, for the kind invitation.

This year’s celebration was themed “Inclusion and Sustainability,” reflecting Malaysia’s vision and leadership as host of the 2025 ASEAN Summit.

For the occasion, Zealong created a special ASEAN-inspired tea gift, blending the refreshing lemongrass of Southeast Asia with the elegance of jasmine, together with the purity and sustainability of New Zealand organic oolong tea.

These gifts were shared with diplomats and distinguished guests, honouring multiculturalism and the spirit of unity.

Yesterday marked the arrival of the first domestic jet service to Hamilton Airport NZ in 25 years! Air New Zealand's A320 jet touched down from Christchurch yesterday at 4:20pm. ✈️

Zealong was present to help welcome the new passengers and to celebrate the Waikato becoming more connected with the rest of the country.

Thank you to those community members who stopped to talk with us to learn more about Zealong Tea, we hope to see you soon at the estate this Spring.

It is a busy time to be on the Tea Estate.

The tea bushes are being woken up from their winter sleep with a gentle trim by the tea trimmer. The tea is trimmed, and the rows are being weeded in preparation for our Spring Tea harvest. We do this so our new season’s growth is level and bursting full of goodness. Only the top two leaves and the bud are picked. It's with careful management and precision equipment that we can offer the world premium New Zealand grown tea.

Our Story

The story of Zealong begins with a single flower.

Inspired by a Camellia tree flowering in his neighbour’s backyard, Zealong founder Vincent Chen realised something no one else had — the climate in Waikato, New Zealand was perfect for growing tea.

And so, Zealong was born.

Returning to Asia on the hunt for the world’s purest Camellia trees, Vincent found 1500 trees from which he could begin his dream. But due to New Zealand’s stringent quarantine process, only 130 cuttings survived.

Vincent was determined to make it work. Tirelessly nurturing the small plantation on the outskirts of Hamilton, he and his team found success in the humble cup of tea.

Those initial 130 saplings have now become an estimated 1.2 million Camellia trees, which are spread across 48 hectares of some of New Zealand’s most fertile soil.

Producing great tea isn’t enough at Zealong. It has to be done the right way. The natural way. Free from harmful chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals, our tea is among the purest in the world.

We know exactly what’s in our tea — right down to the row of trees it was picked from. Zealong is certified organic, and certifications include BioGro, ISO22000, HACCP and USDA, meaning we’re one of the most trusted tea producers in the world.
