Last weekend, we had the pleasure of catering a 60th birthday celebration and it was one for the books! A little rain meant a quick pivot from garden to indoor, but that didn’t stop the good times. We recently had the honour of catering the Perago Trust Dinner at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome, proudly sponsored by our parent company, Montana Group. We were thrilled to be a part of this special evening, celebrating athletic excellence and raising an impressive $65,000 to support young Cambridge athletes.

Guests enjoyed a selection of canapés, followed by plated entrées and mains including Beef Fillet with Shiitake Crust and concluding the evening with indulgent petite fours.

The Perago Trust, established in 2012, has raised over $174,000 to help more than 55 athletes across 25 different sporting endeavours. This year’s funding round meant they were able to support nine athletes from sports including cycling, canoe slalom, boxing, football, coastal rowing, and middle-distance running.

It’s a privilege to play a part in an event that fosters such meaningful opportunities for future champions.

What a night at the 2024 Waikato Chamber of Commerce Business Awards! Congratulations to HMS TRUST for winning the Community Contribution Award – your commitment to making a real difference in our community is truly inspiring.

We were honoured to sponsor this category and celebrate the passion and dedication of all the finalists, including Kora Fuel Cards and Ninja Valley Hamilton. Your mahi strengthens our community, and we’re proud to recognise all that you have achieved.

It was also a privilege to cater the awards dinner, serving canapes and a 3-course plated dinner to 740 guests. This night is always a highlight on our calendar, filled with incredible work from local businesses and their continued growth throughout the Waikato.

Our team had an incredible time catering for the NZNFS at this year's 2024 Fieldays. Over four days, we served around 2000 guests at 19 different sites. Some special moments included the Primary Leaders Luncheon and setting up food stations at the NZNFS VIP Business Plus Lounge. We also catered events like the Fieldays Innovation Awards and the Fencing Awards, along with several exhibitor sites and deliveries. Thank you to our team for their hard work and dedication in making this a great experience for everyone involved.

On behalf of Montana Group we want to thank Hospice Waikato for hosting another unforgettable Bucket List Banquet last Friday! 11 years on we are still honoured to continue to sponsor and contribute to such a remarkable event. Creating an unforgettable dining experience for this important cause is always a highlight for our team. A huge thank you to all the event partners and generous donors who made the live and silent auctions a resounding success! This year's banquet went above and beyond, raising an impressive $575k for Hospice Waikato. It showcased the remarkable work done by their team in supporting patients and families during challenging times. We're honoured to once again support such a meaningful cause.

Our Story

The Montana name derives from earlier times with Montana Restaurant established in Victoria St Hamilton in 1965.

The culture of innovation and expansion were evident when in 1988 ‘out catering’ was added to the menu. The introduction of professional rugby in 1996 lead to a sea change with Montana entrusted with the original corporate hospitality at Hamilton’s Rugby Park, for the inaugural Chiefs UBix Super 12 season. The construction of what is now FMG Stadium Waikato during 2001, opening in 2002, was the catalyst for the new company’s birth.

Montana Catering 2001 Ltd, trading as Montana Catering, was based at Waikato Stadium from its opening and continues to be the resident caterer. In 2011, with the successful tendering for the catering rights to the refurbished Claudelands Events Centre, head office and a new catering operation was launched at this new venue.

In 2018 we evolved our name to Montana Food and Events to emphasise our continued focus on our Food being the defining difference, plus highlighting our expertise at Event Management. In an instant age, with a multitude of demands the pre, during and post event management can be one of the defining factors of success. Whether your event is a one-off function, complex conference with 2,000 delegates or a unique family gathering, our Event Management will guarantee its success.
