From the vines to the lake and manicured grounds, Abel Estate offers all the opportunities you want for a magical wedding ceremony and a treasure trove of photos to be cherished for a lifetime. Formerly the working vineyard Abel & Co, the venue started hosting weddings with new owners in the 1990s under the name Gracehill. Abel Estate is building on that heritage, giving couples and their guests a fresh and stylish setting to love.

There was a wonderful buzz amongst future wedding couples, their families and friends at Bite-size Sunday yesterday. It was a chance for prospective wedding couples to meet our planning team of Nikki, Stephanie and Paige who could answer all their many questions.

There was particular interest in the new Ikebana-style floral styling (featured below), added to the other options of floral vases and runners available from venue florist Meghann Humphries of Go Flowers NZ.

Other highlights included the new marquee next to the vines, the champagne tower , Vineyard Suite, and venue photobooth. Not to mention the premium canape selection that got plenty of compliments.

The finale of our tasting season saw a full house of diners eager to try the new creations by chef Alex Dare. They weren't disappointed. Aside from the many compliments about the standard of the dishes, diners had more than enough to eat. As one put it: "To think I was concerned about the amount of food - I've eaten so much I can't breathe!"

The bridal steps are a favourite for photographs, either as the bride walks in, or afterwards as a backdrop for couples shots. They can also help compensate for the differing heights of the couple.

Fab Wedding Advice - Part 10 of a 10-part series - Don't Stress The Small Stuff

No matter how well you've planned, as the wedding draws near it's easy to get caught up in those tiny little details such as cake toppers, favours, the music playlist and much, much more. The big mistake is to get wrapped up in the small stuff which can ruin your big day, if you let it.

Fab Wedding Advice - Part 9 of a 10-part series - Delegate, Delegate, Delegate

You've heard the old saying : "it takes a village". It was never more true than with organising a wedding. So you don't get consumed by all the work, learn early how to delegate, and don't be shy about it. Your nearest and dearest will want to help.

Fab Wedding Advice - Part 8 of a 10-part series - De-stress With Fake Deadlines

When organising a wedding, time is rarely your friend. The biggest danger is that close to the date of the wedding you'll suddenly realise you have a million decisions to make, and things to organise, but time is fast running out. To stop the mad rush at the end, create a series of fake "deadlines" for completing each task well ahead of time.

Fab Wedding Advice - Part 7 of a 10-part series - Trust Your Suppliers

Once you've chosen the venue and vendors to make your wedding a reality, relax and let them do just that. You'll enjoy your day so much more than if you keep trying to do their job for them. As the old saying goes, "why have a dog and bark yourself?" That doesn't mean you won't get to make choices, but your supplier's years of experience are something to be trusted and utilised.

Fab Wedding Advice - Part 6 of a 10-part series - Stay True to Yourself

Toasting with champagne, incorporating handfasting in your ceremony, having six speeches - if none of those things are you, don't feel you have to go ahead with them. Often couples find themselves organising their wedding based on the wishes of others, so don't get caught in that trap. That said, be careful about changing things that will make the wedding difficult, such as an impractical runsheet or cancelling vendors at the last minute.
