And our last team member to introduce in Part 2's of getting to know the team at La Fleur Florist is the zealful Zoe.
Zoe is our Junior, who works for us after school and on Saturdays.
Zoe has a natural love for flowers, which she sometimes grows and dries at home for her own enjoyment.
She's a quick learner and is keen to pick up new skills to expand her floristry knowledge. She's a pleasure to have with us.
"When I was little, I was in town with my Mum, and as we were walking past the florist shop I pointed to it and said, 'I'm going to work there when I'm older' Ten years later & I'm loving my job as an apprentice florist & all the new experiences & learning opportunities that come with it. I really appreciate the hard working & fantastic team & every new day shows how much they care about what they do & I hope to one day be as talented as they are"
Next up on Part 2's of getting to know the team at La Fleur Florist is the Amazing Andy
Andy has been a part of the La Fleur team for some years now and she was the owner of Andrea's for Flowers in town before that.
A dedicated and very skilled florist. She is amazing at what she does.
"I came into floristry many years ago, when I was given a few days work by a local florist, who decided to take me on permanently and here I am 40 years later. Still doing it & still loving what I do.
The wonderful thing about floristry for me is the way the industry changes & grows from year to year. It makes you innovative and encourages you to be resourceful & imaginative & most of all you get to create beautiful things everyday. All I can say is it's a pleasure to come to work & the boss is quite nice! 😜😂"
Next up on Part 2's of getting to know the team at La Fleur Florist is Superstar Florist Sarah.
Sarah has a long association with La Fleur, with being a previous owner before selling & heading out of the region for a while. We jumped at the chance of having her back with us, when the possibility arose several years ago.
Sarah's skill & attention to detail are amazing. She is a talent.
" I've been a florist for 35 years & at one point owned La Fleur Florist. I went on to sell to Kim & Luther when I moved out of the area. I have enjoyed seeing many changes in trends & products over the years, but the most enjoyable part of the job for me is creating different colour combinations"
Some quick fire questions in Part 2's of getting to know the team at La Fleur Florist.
First up, Melissa. Owner at La Fleur
La Fleur is a locally owned, family run business here in Masterton. Melissa's parent's, Kim & Luther Toloa bought La Fleur back in 1999, with Melissa coming on board as manager in 2009 & eventually buying the business with her husband Adrian in 2021.
"I initially agreed to a 5 year plan as manager here back in 2009, but actually found that I really enjoyed learning about the industry, developing the business, the team here and knowing what we do has a positive impact on people.
We're very lucky to have the talent of Sarah & Andy as our Senior Florists, who are amazing at what they do. We've had some lovely school students as Juniors over the years.
I'm also lucky to have supportive family & friends who helps us out whenever needed with delivery runs, greenery picks, much needs snacks and drinks during peak times😅 etc.
Every day is different & it's a vibrant, creative, fun place to work & I can't picture myself anywhere else"
Just as quickly as we see these stunners appear at market, they disappear and their season ends 🥹 Waratahs🥰
